We have a choice of John O' Hurley (sp?) from Seinfeld or Neil Patrick Harris (sp?)from Doogie Howser. Any experiences with either of these?

Thanks so much!

Its like choosing anything.
It depends on who YOU like better.

Both actors have had great CP reviews here.

Heck, see BOTH shows.

I think you will find all narrators are good. Disney would not keep bringing them back if they weren't. ;)

Plan for the day that works best for you and enjoy the show....I really don't think you will disappoined either way.

I will also add, if you have not called yet, you might want to do that pretty quickly. I called at 6 CST this morning and was told by the CM that they are filling these spots up quickly. I booked two, one being Le Cellier and she told me there were not a lot of spots left for it.

I booked the CP pkg. this morning.:santa: I had to wait on the phone for 20 minutes .
I booked Teppanyaki. I have never eaten there. Anyone have an opinion?
I love the CP!

Ok, I haven't seen this show but I would absolutely choose John O'Hurley. He has such a fantastic speaking voice and was so very entertaining on dancing with the stars. Definitely better than Doogie in my book! ;)

How can you NOT see Doogie Howser!?!??! lol! :) (I think the theme music for Doogie Howser, MD would continuously run through my head while he was on stage...)

See what I mean...
To each his own.

We saw Neil Patrick Harris last year. He was good, but honestly, I think way too much focus is put on who the narrator is. The reading of the passages is really just a very very small part of the event.

We did the CP pkg last year at Teppanyaki...it was delicious! I had scallops and steak and my DH had shrimp and steak. DS had steak. Everything was very good, but I could have done without the little appetizer they throw in, Seaweed something. Green Tea Ice Cream was YUMMY!

You have obviously never been to CP with a bad narrator. While there is much more than the narration, a poor narrator really casts a pall over the entire experience. I recall Jaci Velazquez' "valley girl" version 2 years ago which was, like, totally distracting, ya' know? Or the completely disrespectful attitude of Mario Lopez last year when he was text messaging on stage while the choir was singing. Things like this do have a negative impact on the show.

That said, I was fortunate to enjoy Mr. Harris' narration last December. Since he and Mr. O'Hurley were invited back again this year I think both will give excellent voice to the meaningful narration of this show.

Thanks to everyone on their opinions. Yes, we got up very early this morning and we were on hold about 20 minutes. My husband booked one of the men, and I booked the other. I was just wondering which we wanted to keep. My husband got 5:40 Le Cellier with 8:15 show and I got the 5pm dinner with 8:15 show. We have two tables for our family of five with both reservations. We went for the first and only time about two years ago and enjoyed it. We saw a woman whose name escaped me, but she did a nice job even though we weren't familar with her. I just wondered if anyone had a negative opinion of either actor! Thanks again everyone!

I saw Neil Patrick Harris last year. He was very good. I'd say it was dignified, without being "fake". I was a little concerned, because I pictured Doogie Howser too (you can tell my age, can't you!), but it was good. I honestly don't know who John O'Hurley is, so I can't compare the two.

You'll really enjoy the experience. It was very moving. But a word of caution. Be prepared for chilly weather. The wind off the lagoon really is strong in that theater, even if it's nice weather.

A not so good narrator can take away from the whole experience. We have had, in this order..David Ogden Stiers (much better than I had thought he would be), Heather Headly (just incredible!!), Phil Donahue (so NOT good!!), Steven Curtis Chapman (another incredible!).
This year, I have Phylicia Rashad on Dec 7, dinner at LeCellier (all booked), but I'm also heading over to stand outside and catch part of Steven Curtis Chapman and Neil Patrick Harris...won't pay for the package again, but I've never had such great narrators all at once during one trip!!

David Ogden Stiers (much better than I had thought he would be)

David Ogden Stiers is one of THE most-used voice talents and a highly respected on-camera actor.

He is known for his cultured voice delivery and meticulous acting ability.

Of any of the narrators, I would have naturally assumed him to be at the top of the list for talent and presentation.

Maybe you were unfamiliar with his many credits...

I'm glad you got to enjoy his performance.

That's true. We've only been once, so we can't really compare Neil Patrick Harris to anyone else. Before our trip, I spent quite a bit of energy trying to decide who to see. Then when we saw it, I was surprised at how small of a part the narration was. But I can definitely see how having a particularly bad narrator could detract from the experience.

I am a die hard Seinfeld fan so we saw John O'Hurley last year. He was excellent!! Very well spoken and entertaining. He has a very entertaining voice:thumbsup2
