The tree lighting ceremony has been scheduled at 5:55 the last few years -- it is fully dark by then but definitely not at 5:00. It's very difficult to see the tree lighting and do the dinner package on the same night.
We also had a 4:30 at Garden Grill in 2002 and were passing the tree just as the lighting ceremony was about to start. DW wanted to see it and was really miffed when I insisted we keep moving. As it turned out we were seated just 7 minutes before the reserved seating was opened to all comers (which happens 15 minutes before show time).
