Candlelight Processional Dinner Package

I planned a candlelight processional dinner package at the rose and crown - processional first, then dinner at 8:30 so we can watch Illuminations from the Rose and Crown.

I am having second thoughts as we have a DD - 11, DNeices - 8 and 5. I am starting to wonder whether this would be boring for them.

I would love to get opinions on this.

Someone out there (maybe even from Canada) must know.....

I think everyone loves to hear Christmas music and stories and it is only 45 mins. long so if they do get bored during it they won't have to wait to long until it's over. I can't wait to give this a try next year.

Yes I totally agree with hockey mom and would take the girls as it's only a short time and it really is beautiful to watch and hear and gives you that "Christmasy" feeling.

We did this approximately 3 years ago.
We ate at the Norwegian restaurant.
Our DD was approximately 7 - 8 at the time. Ben Vereen was the celebrity that did the reading and sang. If you don't have the super duper ticket that gives you the covered seating (It is outside but some seating is covered) take raincoats or an umbrella. It was probably one of the hardest rains we have ever experienced. Raincoats, umbrellas and everything else did little to quell the soaking we got. Despite that we had a blast. It was really nice, the music and singing was great and we are glad we did it. Our DD had a great time and I wouldn't worry too much about them being bored.

This is my most favourite thing to do when we go at Christmas time. It is absolutely beautiful. It helps us to remember what Christmas is really all about. When we went in 2002 my DS was 7 my DD was 1 and my son loved it. My daughter enjoyed the lights and the singing and of course we had snacks to help her make it through the show.

Having dinner reservations afterwards made it great because we didn't have to scramble to try and find a place to eat. Knowing I have a seat for something makes the extra money all worth while. I never go to an event where it is general seating because I can't stand having to worry about whether I'll get a good seat or even a seat at all.

Our narrator was the Mom from the Cosby show. Phylisha Rashad ????

Go to the show and take in all the wonderful singing, beautiful lights and music and the message they are trying to share. My son just asked the other day if we could go back at Christmas to see the show. Not this year because we're going in 2 and 1/2 weeks for our vacation.

I really liked CP ... DBF said he didn't care for it but at the same time I don't think he was bored either.

We did San Angel Inn on the package last year too! We had dinner first and then went to the show. There were a lot of people who had the same idea as us and we all showed up at restaurant at the same time

One tip ... bring a sweater/jacket. The theatre is outdoors and you'll be there for a while. It was very chilly the night that we were there.

After these past two years of Freezing in January, I'm bringing my WINTER COAT! I'm not taking any chances!

Plus I will need it for when we get back!LOL

Does anyone know if you're having the dinner package with an under 3yo (no charge, I know), do they expect them not to eat, or do they eat free?

Under 3's only eat free if it's a buffet. We did CP last year and while my sister-in-law and I enjoyed it, my brother and son (14 years) were pretty bored. I think my brother said it was a toss up whether he enjoyed CP or a trip to the dentist more. You will have to take into consideration your children's ability to sit through stuff like that. How are they at other shows, concerts, dinners out? 45 minutes can seem like a lifetime to a child who finds it boring.

So what do they do for the non-buffet packages - again, do they charge you for a kids CP package if he eats at all? Or do we pay for our two adult packages, and then order ala carte for him?
