We're going to be in Disney from 11/28-12/1. How packed usually is the Candlelight Processional during that week and do we really need a dinner package to ensure a good seat then?

Michael W. Smith is the narrator during the time you are there, and I expect he will be fairly popular. The one thing in your favor is it's not a weekend. Still, without a package, you will probably need to be in line one hour before the performance to have a chance at a seat.

I think of the CP dining package as paying for park time and peace of mind (+ lunch/dinner, of course!). It's my understanding that the closer seats are reserved for CP package diners and VIPs. We decided to do the dining package because 1) this upcoming trip will likely be our only Christmas-time trip for the foreseeable future and 2) I really wanted to see the CP.

Yeah, the way I see it, we'd be paying 30-something each for dinner anyway. I'll send this thread to my family and see which place/time we can agree on.

Definitely! While my mom and I did not enjoy our dinner at Tokyo Dining, we were SO glad that we had reserved spots for the CP. The line was a mile long! This was on a Thursday.

In December of 2009, DH and I lucked out and stood at the back of the theater just behind the rope. Since it was just the two of us, we didn't mind standing for the show. We had a perfect view and loved CP! However, if I was going with a large family, I'd book a dining package.

The earliest show seems to be the easiest to get seating for. It's not quite dark yet. But we've seen the standby line for the 5pm show start around 3pm, not a good use of 2 hours of park time. If you get there at 4pm you may not have a seat until the next show.

We've stood in the back without seating, stood out near the walkway, even sat at the outside tables by the American Pavillion CS and heard all the music quite fine, just can't see much and can't always hear the narrator unless you are standing right at the back.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. We're successfully booked and I can't wait to see this!
