candlelight processional backstage worker

anyone here ever work back stage at the candlelight processional as part of a group? what is involved and how much time does it take? our church choir might go and this option was brought up. i really dont want to give up much time in the parks so any info greatly appreciated.

This is grossly oversimplified and things may be different that what I recall but here's what I remember...

Guest choirs generally sing in either the first show or the 2nd PAIR of shows. Singers need to be in the rehearsal tent well before the show in order to go through the program with the conductor and get their places on the risers (singers are arranged by voice part and height). With high school choirs the chaperones typically have an organizational meeting to attend while this is going on. I'm not sure if the same holds true for leaders of adult choirs such as church groups. After the show the choir members just return their robes, collect any belongings left in the rehearsal area and head into the park or back on their buses.

On the day your choir is performing, I'd estimate that you'll need to plan for at least 3-4 hours of time taken for the show (including backstage and performance time) for the early show and maybe another hour or so if they're performing in the later pair.

Before your trip I think your choir needs to submit an audition tape if you are accepted each member must have their part memorized.

our youth group may perform. i am just an adult going along with the group and was asked if i might work backstage. what do those workers do?

Sounds like a chaperone to me.

As I remember, some of the parents stayed in the lunch tent watching over the kids' gear (coats, bags, etc). There are also a few chairs set up backstage in the theatre itself for chaperones in case one of your kids needs to be taken off stage during a performance.

I've never actually been a chaperone for a youth choir so I'm just basing this on what I've observed in past years.
