Candlelight dining package pricing much higher than pre-published price

I'll be interested in reading other people's experiences.

In full disclosure...I'm a Disney stockholder ;)

I just dined at Via Napoli for lunch with the CP. The posted price was accurate with what they were charging. I did end up using 2 TS credits because I was unsure of what else to use them on. The line for the CP was sooo long. They barely let in any standby because it was so long. I was shocked by that! We loved using the CP dining package.

Just FYI, we had our lunch with the dining package yesterday which is the first day of the Candlelight Procession at Restaurant Marrakesh in Morocco. At the time of booking, it was said $43.xx after tax for adult, but yesterday the bill came at $59.xx pre tax for adult ($64 after tax). I double checked it was not a mistake. Hope that helps people with more accurate budgeting. Not sure anyone else notice big increase at other restaurant.

BTW, according to mouse for less, it should be $43.xx for lunch too at Restaurant Marrakesh But I guess Disney always say subject to change?

OP...what did you order? I ask because Marrakesh last year had an upcharge if you wanted one of their "Feast" meals. Perhaps you weren't told this when you ordered and they simply upcharged you?

If you were there yesterday (the day you posted), I'm not surprised at all. Neil Patrick Harris is probably the most popular narrator, and definitely not one to try to see without the dinner package.

I didn't order feast, just regular items from menu.

also I was told kid appetizer is not included, so we didn't order those.
I'm on the phone with Disney now, and was told it should be $42.xx, not $64.

Now I'm being tranferred to Billing , but billing told me they don;t handle refunds like that, now being tranfered to somebody else...

Also make sure you have your email confirmation of your candlelight package, when we arrive at the restaurant, I was told what I have is not a package reservation, just a regular reservation until I show them the email confirmation from my phone...

Not a pleasant experience to be honest...

I was able to confirm lunch pricing of 37.xx for adults and 20.xx for children for CP dining pkg at Biergarten.

I also ate lunch (1:20pm) there Sunday for the candlelight package but was charged about $43 per person. They had my reservation correct but the family checking in before me had a similar problem as the OP were the restaurant didn't have them as having the package. OP - I am sorry you are having a hard time with what should have been a simple reservation.

My family picked Restaurant Marrakesh because it was the cheapest option other than the Biergarten, which we have already eaten at, and we were mostly just interested in the reserved seating. I will not be returning to this restaurant. The service was good and entertainment was nice, but the food was bad and it was freezing cold inside.

geez...so sorry what should have been an enjoyable experience ended up costing you frustration and wasted time. I'm so appreciative that you posted this. It may be a glitch that occurred with just a few guests, but if you're one of those unlucky few, it's annoying. Good to have a head's up.

After being re-routed 6-7 times and hanged up(by CM's mistake, suddenly the survey started in middle of a conversation, and have to dial in to start over again) once, I finally was able to talk to restaurant accounting who is able to take the responsibility. She pointed out there could be some issues about pricing especially on the first day of the dining package, but the waiter is not excusable for that. I provided the check number, and she did call me back after researching and promised a check of difference to be mailed to me. The lady I spoke to in the end is actually pretty nice.

I guess I was mostly annoyed by the waiter who insisted it was right without checking with anyone else, which caused me hours of phone today to just get back my $50.

Anyway tips for ya:

  1. Keep your email confirmation of Candlelight Package reservation to prove it is not just a regular dining ressie.
  2. Double check your final check, unless you are not price sensitive at all.
  3. Try to resolve doubt on the scene to avoid phone calls later, it's always easier if it can be resolved right away.
  4. If you don't want 'further unpleasant questioning' with the waiter or ruin your mood at the park, at least keep your receipt and deal with that later.

What about Dining Plans? I was looking to book tonight for something similar and they are charging 2 Table Service meals for the Candlelight Processional Dinner Package, and also 2 Table Service meals for Lunch as well.

ALL CP packages are 2 dining credits, regardless of whether they are lunch or dinner, buffet or a la carte.

Thanks for sharing, just curious whether you were also told the appetizer is not included for kids or not?

I'm swinging on whether the deal is worth it or not for my future visit.

Thank you for your report of your experience. I am sorry this happened to you and was such a mess to straighten out.
Regarding the kids appetizer-Kids meals are usually preset without too many choices. Appetizers are usually like carrot & celery sticks with ranch dressing, a small bowl of cut fruit, a small salad or something similar. You may have been served it without realizing it was the appetizer. If you tried to order something off the appetizer portion of the menu, that may have been what the waiter was telling you was not covered. And no excuse, but was there a language problem, English not being a first language?
Either way, sounds like your waiter was not very good and didn't know how to handle it. Sorry this happened to you. He should have asked his manager.

Our waiter spoke good English, of course with an accent(required to be a waiter in WS right?:)) The only thing we didn't order but came on the table is bread, one piece for each of us.

Anyway I moved on, and want to share some experience so that other people can be prepared for similar scenarios...hopefully not...
