Hiya Ladies,

I can not decide whether to do a unity candle ceremony or a sand ceremony!

I am thinking of doing a candle ceremony but i am worried that with having the ceremony outside the wind might blow the candles out! What do you Ladies think?!

What are you ladies doing?

I did a sand ceremony because Disney and people here encouraged me to. I was told a unity candle would be too much of a pain outside because it would keep blowing out.

If your ceremony is inside, then it really doesn't matter and is personal preference.

Another option to the sand or unity candle is called a wine sharing. Google it. I am considering it.

I'd vote for sand...then again that's what I'm doing. Because a) I don't want to fake it outside if the candle doesn't light. and b) the sand ceremony seems like it would be a better keepsake.

We did the sand ceremony and I would recommend it for an outdoor wedding. Plus it's nice because we still have our sand ceremony jar on the shelf and it's nice to see as a reminder. :goodvibes

Thanks for all your help ladies!!

I definitely do not want the candle to blow out! I will also look at the wine sharing idea!!:cool1:

We did the candle ceremony for our Epcot outside ceremony and yes, our candle kept blowing out. I am sorry we did not do the the sand ceremony but it just reminds me of something kids do at a local state fair or something.

What decided it for us was the fact that I am not carrying a jar of sand back with me from my trip to Disney. Right now we're opting for the candles at SBP, but to me it doesn't matter if they blow out. In fact, I think it'll be kind of comical. I certainly wouldn't take that as an omen or anything, but I can see how some people would. I'm also not a person that is doing the something old something new tradition. Just me. I like the idea of the wine box, but I also don't want to lug a bottle of wine back that would take up valuable luggage volume. But maybe I will do something with just the love letters...

I also couldn't see myself displaying the bottle of sand anywhere in my home after maybe a year. And I'm horribly sentimental about throwing things out, so I don't even want to have to deal with that if I were to go with the sand ceremony.

If i was doing an outside ceremony i would definately do sand ceremony because of the wind possibly blowing the candles out
