cancelling reservation question

So, we booked our 1st dvc stay this morning and I think we made of made a mistake. We booked a 1bdrm at AKL and 2 bedroom at BWV for a split stay. The standard room we wanted at BWV was not available, so I went for the 30 point borrow from 2013 to have the Boardwalk view. Now we are thinking that we should just stick with 1 bedrooms and save the points. Because we borrowed from 2013, can we cancel the reservation and have those points returned to 2013, or do I have to use these borrowed points this year? For some reason, I think I now have to use the borrowed points within the next year, but I am not sure. BTW...the trip is for August.

Borrowing is a final transaction. The points will remain in the Use Year into which they were borrowed. If you cancel, you can use those borrowed points for another reservation and bank any current points freed up based on your normal banking deadlines.

Just be sure to use the borrowed points before they expire at the end of the Use Year.
