I'm sure this has been asked a hundred times before, but I can't find it in the archives..................

If I buy my flights now, and see a DING fare in the next month or so, can I cancel my ORIGINAL flight before I book the DING fare, and use those proceeds to pay for the DING fare?

I'm almost certain I can do this, but I wanted to check....

Hey,

Last year I did the same thing I had booked in Jan. 206 for our trip in May thru SWA for $89 each way and then a DING fare came out for $34 each way from DTW. I called SWA and cancelled my original booking and they gave me a credit for the full amount. To use the credit you will need the reservation number of the original flight because this is where your credit is located. The credit is only good for one year from the booking date. So after using the credit for the incredibly low DING fare I had enough to go again in Dec. on another incredibly low DING fare. Not a bad deal 12 return flights to MCO for $1300US. Hope that this helps.

p.s. I really wish that I had bought an AP would have saved us alot of $$$, but who knew that we were going again so soon.

Ok, that is what I thought....................yeah, and I hear you on the AP pass----we ended up taking 2 trips each of the past 2 years, and I keep telling myself we should have bought an AP....
