So it would appear that I am going to need to postpone my trip for a year. I originally thought that I would just cancel the trip and rebook next year but we got the insurance so I think I'll be out a few hundred dollars if I do that. So I'm thinking I'll just ask them to move the trip. Does anyone have any experience with this? If I have a trip booked for August this year can I have it moved to August of next year?

Give reservations a call. You won't be able to firm anything but they should be at least able to record your reservations for next year. I tried once to plan my vacation more than a year out and while they could give me a reservation number, there was nothing for me to really do with it until it was within 12 months.

so sorry you have to post pone.<-- I would be sick about that

Thanks for the advice. It sounds like I might be able to save myself the insurance which would be awesome.

I am pretty disappointed about having to postpone the trip. DH and I are still throwing ideas around but really I know in the end there is no way around this one. I'll hold on to our reservations for a while and see how things end up.
