I emailed my TA that I am cancelling my reservation (better deal with free dining) and she emailed me that their would be a $25 cancellation fee per person.I can't find that written on anything that has been sent to me or in the notes I took from our conversation.Anyone have any knowledge of this??

AAA may have a cancellation fee but what i did with my agent is switch the dates that way i was not losing anything. I now have saved 800 by going in aug verses july. See if he/she can just switch everything to take advantage of the free dining.

My AAA has a $50 cancellation fee, which I didn't find out about until she sent the paperwork to me - AFTER I had given the deposit. Check the contract/confirmation paperwork that you would have signed.

Are you changing your dates? Why don't you just have the TA call and get the free dining plan for you? That way you're not canceling anything, just changing the package, which you should be able to do.

Good luck!

I also have a sept ressie w/ AAA that i made a few months ago to get a AAA discount.

but what i did was, on sunday morning after hearing about the free dining- i am a visa card holder and i called and made another ressie directly with disney. (same as what i had w/ AAA)

my AAA TA does not get into the office until tuesday and i wanted be sure i GOT the promotion!-- i cld my TA tues morning and told her to change my ressies to the free dining (i orig booked the pkg w/ dining anyway).....

so now as we speak- i have 2 ressies for sept 16/24 w/ free dining at the POP! one w/ AAA the other w/ disney. for some reason i am afriad to cx one- i just want to be sure when i get my AAA paperwork that everything is correct, and then i will cx the disney ressie.

the ONLY reason i am staying w/ AAA is b/c of the penalty i may get. otherwise- i feel better keeping by booking w/ disney.

Why don't you get your AAA agent to change your reservation to include the free dining plan? It won't cost anything. My AAA agent was able to do this without any problem.

My AAA agent sent an email on Monday that she would try to get the free dining for us but I also made a reservation on Tuesday morning just in case.I never heard back from her.Today I just decided to cancel the AAA one because I was not aware of the fee.On the notes I made when I spoke to the agent I have written that I had up until the 45 day mark to cancel. She has emailed me that it is on the paperwork I received after I paid my deposit.

I did email her a liitle while ago asking if she had been able to get us the free dining.I would never had booked the trip had I known about the fee-my dad's health is precarious at best.

I booked with AAA as well and did not know about the cancelation fee until I received my paperwork. My agent was able to switch my dates and got me a better deal than what I was quoted from Disney.

I booked with AAA as well and I specifically asked about any fees and cancellation policy. She gave me the same rules as Disney.

45 days out entire deposit $200 is refunded

I actually just called to confirm and she said some agencies do charge that $25 per person charge but AAA Carolinas does not.

Thank goodness because I still need to convince by DH. :thumbsup2

My AAA office in NY also does not charge cancel fee unless its under 45 days.

Central Ohio does not have a cancel fee either. That would have come as a total shock to me, one more expense that I wouldn't have needed with 5 people going.

my AAA ta is same as disney also oh by the way we're with AAA of the carolina's

I did not get the trip insurance.I would not be upset if I had been told before I paid the deposit over the phone and booked.I received my paperwork after that.

the first time was through the 800 on my card and it was the North Atlantic region. I don't think they have a cancellation fee.

The second time was for our trip starting tomorrow. I also had no idea they charged a cancellation fee, since I didn't have one the time before, until AFTER I received the paperwork and had given the deposit. Since I was sure we weren't cancelling I didn't really care but I think that it should be disclosed up front before any deposit is taken so you can be sure you want to use that agency. Not all charge a fee.

If I had known, I might have just made the ressie through my region rather than reaching out to another agent because of a recommendation. Service was okay, but there were issues and frankly, I don't think I got anything other than the discount on the room for my patronage. I had to make some of my own calls because the agent kept telling me that there was a tax added when I added the dining plan (something about Disney not being able to separate tax on rooms from tax on food) and I had never heard such a thing but she was insistent that I had to pay it, plus she didn't have the correct charge for the child dining plan. I ended up calling Disney myself, confirming the cost of the dining add on, then conferencing my agent in so that she could make the addition since she "owned" the reservation.

What is the point of using an agent if you have to correct them on charges and policies? Won't do that again.

I cant see how some people expect TA's to do all that work and then not charge you if you decide to cancel. It doesnt make sense! That is alot of time they could have spent doing work for clients who were going to go and follow through with their trip.

Personally, every TA I have dealt with does have a cancellation fee. If you make them do that much work and then cancel, you should have to pay something for their efforts!

Again I would not mind the fee had I known from the beginning.

I would call the toll-free travel number on your card (as did somebody above) and ask what their cancellation policy/fee is, AND explain that this was not revealed to you before you paid your deposit. If you booked through the toll-free number, I'd work my way up through supervisors if necessary.

I can see your point BUT - an AAA Travel Agent is a paid employee. While he or she may earn bonuses, the salary itself is not affected by how much you sell (i.e. commission). AAA doesn't charge me if I spend 45 minutes asking their insurance specialist questions, then choose to insure my car through Geico*; the insurance company doesn't charge me a cancellation fee if I cancel my insurance, no matter HOW much of the various employees' times I've taken up.

My itinerary from AAA (Southern New England) says that I would be charged a $25 per person cancellation fee for all cancellations, I don't remember being told that before hand but then I may have just tuned out when she was going through the fees. :)

Sorry, but I won't do business with anyone that does not lay out all fees in advance, even if I have no intention of canceling.

Thanks to these boards, I give my TA all the necessary information regarding my reservation. She calls WDW on one phone while I am on phone on the other phone and we are done - 10 minutes total.

Before free dining, I made reservations with AAA for the MYW package including the room discount and gave a deposit. No mention by the TA of **their** office cancellation fees, only WDW 45 day policy. When I received my paperwork listing the $25 pp cancellation fee for canceling **anytime**, I called right away and spoke to the office manager. I cancelled my reservations with them (without the cancellation fee) and re-booked elsewhere.

As the OP stated, no problem if you know what is involved when you give a deposit.

I had my AAA TA switch my reservation to the free dining plan.
On the paper invoice I was sent, there is a mention of a cancellation fee.
