Cancelling 1 person from a CC guarantee group

Have a party of 8 going to Spirit of Aloha our first night and we are on the DP so CC guarantee. Well, my brother is canceling (the entire trip) and I called the CM to switch it to 7 ppl and he said just tell the server when we get there, but I'm concerned because a. we don't want to be charged for him being missing and b. i can't imagine this is Disney's policy because you think if there were extra seats (even singles) they would want them available to sell. Right? Call a new CM or is he right?

Thought I would update in case anyone needed to know...I called another CM and she said she wasn't sure if they would charge me for him but that she could modify it for me easily so I would recommend that if anyone else is in this predicament.

I've only done this from the california grill and I've never been charged or hassled about showing up with less than the number on the reservation. Gone from 5 to 3 and from 4 to 3 and never had a problem. Obviously anything pre-paid would be a different story, and I'm not sure about the dinner shows, but that has been my limited experience.

Hi when I purchased our Spirit of Aloha tickets I asked about cancellation and they said 48hrs or more prior and i would get a full refund. I am sure someone here knows for sure the ins and outs. But if you cancel in advance you should expect to not be charged.
