Cancelled cruise

Just want to give a heads up to any other DVC members who have had a cruise cancelled by Disney (using DVC points). Very limited options: points will NOT go back into your DVC points bank. You can put them towards another cruise, but just to let you know the same cruise we tried to book in 2022 was a lot more points - even more than the 125% offered by Disney. If you put them in the 'reservation' account you can use them to stay at a Disney hotel but that will be at least double if you booked with DVC points, and not all DVC resorts have hotel rooms. These points expire at the end of your 2022 use year, which by the way, is before the 2022 cruise we wanted to re-book. In other words, nada from Disney and the supervisor who called me back after five days. Really disappointed with Disney.

I’m sorry you are having trouble finding a sailing to replace what got canceled without shelling out more DVC points. Unfortunately DCL has never been a good use of DVC points same with the Disney collection. A lot DVC members rent out their points and use the cash to book the cruise and you get almost double the value as Disney gives about $8 per point in the cruise/point exchange vs renting them for $16 pp or more.

We have been burned twice using our DVC points for the DCL cruises since Sept 2020 and 4 canceled cruises so far. Once our July 2022 cruise is completed ...... Never again using points for a cruise, we will rent them and use the funds to pay for a cruise. So sorry you are just now understanding the DVC system. We couldn't use all the excess reservation points so luckily we have family in Orlando that have enjoyed Grand Floridian twice now.
