I booked a studio for a friend of mine, so she could accompany me on my upcoming trip, March 18-22.

Now she's been hit with a major, unexpected financial problem, and I'm afraid she may not be able to go.

We're only a week away from the check-in date. If I cancel on Monday, are the points gone? If not, what's the latest date I can cancel, and not lose the points?
Will I have a limited amount of time in which to use the points, or will they still be good till the end of the use year?

Thanks!

If your friend can't go, you won't lose the points unless you don't cancel until Mar 18(the day of arrival). If you cancel on Monday, the points will be put into holding, and you can only use those points this use year, and you can't make ressies until you are within a 60 day window. It can be a hassle to use those points in holding, if your new use year is coming up soon.

I have a June use year, so it's not too soon. I wouldn't be able to use them myself, but I'd probably offer them to friends or family. Someone would probably be able to use them.

I'm really hoping she'll still be able to go; her airfare is already paid for, and the only expenses would be passes and food, and we were going to skip the TS places and graze on counter service anyway. I think she's just so upset about the financial situation right now that she's afraid to spend ANY money. And I completely understand.

Thanks so much for answering! :)

Well, your friend can probably use a vacation if she is stressed out. She can always relax at the pool, and not visit any parks at all, since the passes can be pricey. She has already paid for one of the most expensive part of a trip.
