cancellation question

We are going to WDW in November. Three of us are going for sure. We are planning for my niece to come with us, but she finds out the night before our flight about a potential opportunity that would make her have to cancel.

We are buying 10 day park hoppers with the dining plan. Would we just lose out on all of that money or could the three of us at least use the dining credits we paid for her?

Her flight is non refundable. We are obviously ok not retrieving this $ in the hopes she can come, but it would be nice to not have to throw it all away.

Thanks!

This is the second one of these "last-minute niece cancellation" situations to come along on this board in the last couple of hours.

That is going to be a lot of $$$ down the drain if she cancels the night before.

It will be much less expensive on the Disney portion if you can make the decision (and modify your resort package) as late as 2 days before your check-in.

Can I just not add her for now and add her when we get there, or is there still a modification charge for that?

You can very often ADD a guest (if it will not go over the room maximum) without a modification penalty.

Booking advance FP+ at the 60-day mark can't happen for her without a WDW resort reservation and a ticket for the number of days of the trip.

Hmm. Maybe that is our best option then. I would rather save that money than risk it in order to get her fast passes. She will often be with me in the gift shops while my husband and daughter are on the rides that require FP+ anyway. Lol. We are the chickens in the family. Haha.

Thanks so much!

You can likely get more complete answers about resort bookings by asking this question over on the DIS' Resorts Board.

If you add her when you get there, she won't be able to get the dining plan.

That brings up an opportunity to say that many guests/groups don't eat enough meals to actually warrant needing the Dining Plan.

If you just don't book the dining plan for anyone and pay out of pocket for the actual food you eat, you might
save some money, anyway.

Check out THIS Dining Plan Calculator.
