Cancellation question

We are staying one week in January in a 1BR at SSR arriving on a Saturday. The thought just popped into my head.....that first night is costing me a small fortune in points! Thinking about staying at POR for that night using AAA discount. Can I call MS and cancel just the first night and keep the rest of the ressie without screwing up anything? I mean, I don't want to get to SSR and find out the whole thing was cancelled.

Yes you can cancel the first night of a reservation without goofing up the rest of it. Make sure you can get the other reservation for that night before doing it and make sure you'll still be able to bank/use the saved points.

It's easy to drop days on either end and possible, but more difficult, to drop days in the middle or split a reservation. Remember that points are considered used on day one so the 30 day window is to the first day of the reservation even if the last days are beyond 30 days out.
