Cancellation question, please help

Okay, so it's too late for my brain to work properly so I'm hoping you guys can help me figure this out.
Okay we borrowed points from our 2008 use year which starts dec.1st to make a reservation for september. Found out we may have to cancel but won't know until closer to the time. What I'm trying to figure out is if we cancel right now I think we need to use the points by Nov. 30th anyway since they are borrowed & we are still officially in the 2007 year. so if we cancel within the 30 day period we would have to use the points within 60 days right? So since the reservation is for the end of sept, it's almost the same thing whether we cancel before the 30 days or after, isn't it? Or is there something I'm missing?

Okay I think that the borrowed points just go back into that UY so 2008 UY. You would then have to use those borrowed points by the end of Nov. 2009. I think this right.

You are correct.

No matter when you cancel, the points will have to be used by November 30.

If you cancel 30 days or less prior to arrival, the points will go into the holding account.

The holding account points will expire at the end of your use year (November 30). They cannot be used to reserve a stay more than 60 days prior to arrival. That may not make a lot of difference to you, since the end of your use year is only 3 1/2 months away and will be nearly 60 days away by the time you know if the trip is still on.

Availability for October and November is already very limited. If you cannot take your September trip as scheduled, there is a very good chance you will lose the points.

You could try to rent the reservation to someone else, but short notice reservations are difficult to rent.

Hope it works out for you to go as scheduled.

No, once a point is borrwoed, it cannot be returned to its original use year. The same holds true for banked points. Once a point is banked, it cannot be "spent" in its orgianl use year. Banking and borrowing are final transactions.

The OP's September 08 trip falls within the 2007 use year (12/1/2007 -11/30/2008). If she borrowed 2008 points for that trip and then cancels, the borrowed points stay in the 2007 use year and expire at the end of it - that's November 30, 2008.
