My husband, 1 yr old daughter, MIL, and I were planning on going to Disney DEc 14-19th. We have the trip booked through AAA and completely paid for. Now my MIL may not be able to go. Does anyone know what or if there is a cancellation penalty? Husband, daughter and I are still going, just MIL cancelling so it would be her ticket and dining plan portion. I have an e-mail into the travel agent, but since I wont hear from her until tomorrow, thougt someone on this board probably knows the answer. Thanks

Yes, there is a fee. According to my AAA/Disney "book" here, this is what it says:
"For a cancellation made 44 to 6 days prior to arrival, there is a cancellation fee of $100 per package plus any cancellation fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers. For a cancellation made 5 days or less prior to arrival, there is a cancellation fee of $200 per package plus any cancellation fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers. In addition, with respect to Grand Gathering experiences, for a cancellation made 5 days or less from the experience date, no refund will be given. No refunds will be given to no shows.

In addition, if you air travel had been ticketed, there will be an additional cancellation or change fee assessed by the airline. Please note that cancellation of a nonrefundable airefare results in a change equal to the entire amount of the airfare and cancellation of a refundable airfare must be made at least 1 business day prior to departure "

Hope that helps!

It's really not a cancellation but a modification of the reservation (assuming you are all on the same reservation). I think the change fee is $50.

Are you flying? That part may not be refundable.

Yes, you're right, it says here that the change fee is $50, which would be correct unless she had her own room/package, then the cancellation fees would apply. Is she staying in the same room with you?

Hopefully it will just be a modification fee- she's staying in the same room as us. We had originally booked the vacation just us, then she wanted to go along so we added her to our existing reservation and now she may not be able to go so we'ld be going back to the original plan. She has her airline ticket bought thru Southwest so thats a seperate issue for her. I also bought her a ticket for MVMCP on the 18th which I know is non-refundable-anyone have any ideas how to sell that, maybe e-bay?
