Can anyone who is getting cancellation of their reservations post here and mention your date of arrival? I am curious to know how far ahead they are canceling now. I have other hotel and travel reservations associated with my May 8 arrival which must be canceled a week ahead. Would like to learn how many days notice people are getting.

I know Disney has started canceling cash reservations around that same time frame,

DVC seems to be doing it week ahead, But, you can cancel on your own,

You can wait for DVC to cancel or you can just cancel everything now. The same point return rules apply whether you or DVC cancels the reservation, i.e., banked points are returned as banked points, current use year points as current use year points that can be banked only if you are still within your 8 month banking period, and borrowed points get returned to their original use year.

Thanks. Since DVC hasn't stated a policy yet, just "We are evaluating," I am hesitant to cancel on my own in case they decide later there is a difference between those who canceled themselves and those who were canceled by DVC. I have one reservation that starts May 10, and another that starts May 15. We have enroute hotel reservations May 8 and 9 that must be canceled by May 3. Just trying to manage to the last possible moment as I have 413 points at risk.

In the cruise lines, there is a definite difference in cancellation policy, so not willing to chance it. But as I said, I have to cancel related travel and If by some crazy case DVC reopens for one of my two reservations I could be facing a "go or lose points" still.

As long as you aren’t at risk of passing a banking window, it doesn’t really matter and you have time to wait for them,

I do not think that DVC will make a rule that will treat points differently based on who cancelled as long as the reservation is during a closure.

Once a resort is open, and they announce thst, then rules will go back to normal.

DVC is cancelling reservations around 7 days out from check in.

Last week, all of my dining reservations were cancelled, with individual notifications from the Disney Destinations email account, from May 1st through 10th.

Long past. Use year August 1 with All 300 of my 2019 points plus 113 2018 banked points, total 413 points at risk of loss. No way we will get in for the time we reserved (less 4 days for higher points season) even if I could get the time off on short notice in July. All they've committed is to return your points without 30 day limit and return borrowed points to future use year (no help there.) Ugh. Going to cancel travel hotels now since I can see they are canceling stays that go into my start dates and can't imagine they can restart in 2 weeks.

Ouch, Yeah, many Aug UY people had to decide last month what to do, I was in the same position but only at 60 points at risk if we had waited it out...but my group decided to switch to October instead.

But, at this point, since you are passed that point, waiting doesn’t matter,

If I cancel a July trip online, will my borrowed points go back into my 2021 use year? Or do I have to call. I imagine the phone lines are jammed. I booked for my niece who's daughter's dance group was scheduled for Dance the World in July, and now they've been rescheduled for July 2021. I'm not always confident in the website.

They have been doing it for July reservations, but I would want to be sure to talk to a CM. I have heard people have good success with the chat feature,

I do think that as soon as an opening date for resorts is announced, then the return of borrowed points may be eliminated,

So, I’d want to be sure to get in touch with someone to ensure it’s done.

I would expect them to cancel all Aulani reservations through May 31 ASAP as the governor today extended the mandatory 14 day quarantine for all visitors until that date. We have a reservation that I am waiting for them to cancel. Westjet already cancelled the flight so wondering why DVC is taking so long.

DVC is only canceling week by week, Monday to Friday. I don’t think it’s being done individually, but I bet using some sort of computer algorithm that simply cancels them out by date,

Sounds like they are at beginning of May right now,

Wait, I thought if you cancelled trip before disney announced that the resort would remained closed during your impending visit, that any points you borrowed would expire in the year you borrowed then into. Didn't think we had the option of just cancelling a trip. For example, we have a trip in July booked with sept 2019 points and borrowed 2020 points. I didn't think I could cancel and still bank points or have the borrowed points returned to 2020 unless Disney announces resort will still be closed.

Yes, they have been allowing it. You definitely don’t want to go past your banking window because then you would be stuck.

If you are not going, call or chat and cancel, bank your points and have your borrowed points returned.

I have a feeling as soon as they announce a date for resorts to open, that will no longer be the case.

I used the Chat option the other day and was told that DVC is cancelling reservations approximately 7 days out. They would not comment on whether or not I should cancel my early June Vero Beach res.

I have heard people have good success with the chat feature,
So I waited on the phone for 25 minutes and gave up, I'm suppose to be working. Then I went on chat, which said estimated time 3 minutes, and I got that message twice, then the wait time increase to 4 minutes, I got that message 3 times, finally got through, typed in my question and then got disconnected, for inactivity I guess. :confused3 I just don't want to wait until June and then find out the parks are open and have my points put into holding. It isn't then end of the world if all points get put back into 2020 as I have an April use year, I'm sure I can book something in Jan - March 2021 time frame. Hopefully all this is just a memory by then.

Have a May 16-May 30th reservation. I have not yet gotten any notice canceling anything for my reservation yet but when I look at my reservation which still states an arrival date of 5/16, my fast passes are gone.
On another issue this reservation was booked using some points for this use year but mostly borrowed points (yes over 50%). Does this mean I won't get to rebook it for later this year?

If you want to use the borrowed points above the 50%, I would ask them not to restore them,

However, when that reservation is canceled and those borrowed points have been put back to original UY, when you go to rebook, you would be limited to the 50% rule,
