Cancellation Notices- how far ahead?

Kind of annoyed that DVC can't get its act together better than this.

6 days to check-in and no cancellation notice. That not "A week out" in my book.

They don’t work on weekends, To be fair, it does say week by week, not 7 days.

Is there a specific reason why you are waiting for them to cancel Vs doing it on your own?

5 days notice is simply rude in such an industry, where they easily have the capability to notify farther ahead when they already know it will be closed.
The problem is they haven't said that publically. So they are leaving those of us with other arrangements - other hotels, air, pet care - to wait it out.

I take no chances about canceling on my initiative as compared to being notified. There are a lot of reasons that things can work differently. If for some unbeliever reason the second part of my stay were to become valid (late May) I'd be left with different conditions. Call me gun shy, but in the cruise industry it makes a huge difference if you cancel vs get canceled right now. Not gonna chance it.

Okay, but DVC has been consistent in this with the policy whether one cancels or they do. Many members have canceled and borrowed points were returned, They also said they would be waiving holding

i was just sharing that the website indicated they would be canceling only week by week, so it’s not a surprise they are just starting to cancel next weeks reservations.

Now, if you would go if open, then sure, it makes sense to wait,

I am more upset by the extremely poor customer service. No notification today. Tomorrow is 4 days until check in. It's rather unforgivable. Just because DVC has been consistent, I work with contracts and a lot of things happen unexpectedly. I don't want to be caught by surprise by anything. There is no official statement from DVC of when closure ends. They even say still they are accepting plans that start June 1. That is in my travel window!

Have a May 16-May 30th reservation. I have not yet gotten any notice canceling anything for my reservation yet but when I look at my reservation which still states an arrival date of 5/16, my fast passes are gone.
On another issue this reservation was booked using some points for this use year but mostly borrowed points (yes over 50%). Does this mean I won't get to rebook it for later this year?

If you want to use the borrowed points, modify the reservation to a future date. Once Disney cancels, you’ll have access to 50% of the borrowed points
