Canceling w/ TA but without losing Reservations

Thanks for all your kind words, but an update... There's nothing stopping a TA who wants to be mean from calling up reservations and canceling every single reservation you have. I just checked MDE and all my ADRs were gone. Thankfully, when I called the reservations line they were able to pull up the cancellations and reinstate them. More importantly, they found a number of reservations made to places with a cancellation fee like the CA Grill that I didn't know anything about. Hoping you're right! I'm trying to put all of this out of my mind.

Ugh.

Were the unknown reservations just made? Maybe she was trying to get you charged for no shows? They were in your name? Crazy.

Op, sorry you are going through this. I figured the TA would get ugly and call in once they realized they were blocked online. :sad2: Not sure if you understand, but outside of your online account your ADRs are tied to your phone number and individual confirmation numbers. I was hoping you could change the phone number associated just in case the TA tried to call in by using your phone number and didn't have access to the confirmation numbers. But now I'm understanding the TA holds the confirmation numbers via email secured using your CC. Unfortunately, there's nothing stopping them from cancelling again if they have access to the phone/confirmation numbers. So watch your account like a hawk since the same confirmation numbers were reinstated. Change your password, phone number, CC number... and report, report, report!

Yep.

Regardless of what went down between you guys, I'm not really sure how any TA could think such spiteful, retaliatory behavior wouldn't come back to bite her in the you know what. I mean, it's horrible behavior even with no repercussions, but in the TA world, word of mouth is HUGE for business. I can't imagine that behaving so immaturely could result in anything but future lost business. Unbelievable. I'm really sorry to hear this, OP.

You would think they wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot like that, but isn't this something like the third dis-reported case of this in just a few months? Eek I wonder if it's all the same TA.

Um, I hope you realize that ALL ADRs charge a $10 per person cancellation fee if you cancel less than 24 hours out. Every single one.

Really good point. Op, keep watching. Can you now see all ADRs in your name on MDE? If you have other phone number that the TA might know, call Dining and see if there are ADRs under those numbers.

And maybe request a new cc from your bank/cc company.

This. ::yes:: I can't even imagine why she would do something like this. Ever. Period.

If it was me i would file a complaint against her license including the unknown reservations as part of the complaint. Can you get a print out of all of the reservations (ADRs) that were made? TAs should hold a license plus the owner of the company she works at also has a license. I would go after both...

Agreed, and if it's someone you think others here are likely to use (bigger agency) I hope you will consider revealing at least her area so that others can be wary!

This is outrageous! I am so sorry that you are going through this. You have gotten some great advice and I echo the sentiment to not let this affect your trip when you get there.. it will be magical but unfortunately you will have to put in a little more effort ahead of time to secure your trip properly. I am outraged for you because I am sure your motivation to use a TA was to save time or maybe because you aren't familiar with Disney and now you have to take time out and become educated quick.

If there is anything I can do to help, feel free to PM me (answer questions etc..). I am not a TA!

I used to be a travel agent. You do not have to be licensed, but if you are not licensed then you have to use your agency's licensing number to book reservations. The TA or agency's IATA#(license#) should be somewhere in your information. Figure out out who the agency is affiliated with, like the ASTA (American Society of Travel Agents) and file a report. If they work for a travel agency, report it to the agency owner or manager. If nothing comes of that, file a complaint with the BBB. What your former TA is doing is highly unethical and they should lose their job over something like this immediately. If they are self-employed then they should lose their license. Good luck, OP!
