The airfare is out of control. We have to cancel our thanksgiving trip. I borrowed the points so now I have to figure out a new trip when it will be cheaper:confused:

We're going over Thanksgiving as well and haven't booked airfare yet. Waiting for Southwest and Air Tran to open up their schedules. With it being so far out, there's a good chance that they will run a special at some point. Why not wait and see? Hoping I can get a decent deal.:goodvibes

We have flown in MCO around Thanksgiving the last two years, 2010 and 2011 on SW. In 2010 we flew in on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and left the Sunday after, airfare was $350 per person. In 2011 we left on Thanksgiving and came back the Monday after and airfare was $325 per person. Both were non-stop. I purchased airfare both times as soon as SW released the dates for purchase. Each year I got a about a $35 credit per person when fares came down just a bit but that is reflected in the prices I listed.

Good Luck! I hope you get an an airefare deal!! :goodvibes

i just talked to our TA and she said don't even look at booking airfare until after Memorial Day. There is still a lot of time maybe wait a little bit.

I have a thanksgiving trip scheduled too. If that airfare when SW opens up is even close to the high prices I'm seeing on JetBlue we will be cancelling it. I think there may be quite a few folks with their holiday wait lists fulfilled this year.

There's a possibility we may attempt to reschedule for a Dec weekend, but even those prices are out of control and a 4 day weekend may not make much sense.

It's a Wait-and-see game. (In the long run it would be cheaper to move to FL than continue buying airfare.)

I can really sympathize with airfare prices. We just booked a Thanksgiving trip airfare to HHI. Early? Yes, but DH had FF miles and those GO fast! However, just before I pushed the button to book, the website asked me if I wanted to cancel booking with miles and go ahead and use cash-for over $700 a ticket. Um, no thanks-I think I'll be grateful to be able to use FF miles.

Airfare is absolutely insane these days! Last November, we had a cruise/BWV trip planned and had to totally switch it around in order to pay less for airfare. I said I would never fly in November (Jersey week) again. This year, we are doing a cruise out of NYC. Our next flight is going to be in March 2013 and I'm already nervous. Not sure what to expect.

We are going to DL this year in November. We signed up for the SW Visa and got the 50,000 FF miles.

I was pricing flights to LAX from Minneapolis and they are about 10,000 miles and up for one way flight. There are 5 of us going, so we would have enough for 4 OW flights and would have to purchase 6 OW flights. So our flights would be around $1200.

We live about 2 hours south of Minneapolis, so we travel up the day before and do a park and fly and a tank of gas for the RT, and we are pushing $1,400.

On a whim, I looked up flights from Kansas City to LAX and found them to be so much cheaper. I can fly from Kansas City to Orange County Airport for 5,500 miles each way. We can all fly on FF miles. So we will still have the park and fly and instead of one tank of gas to Minneapolis we will have 2 tanks to Kansas City, and an extra 2 hours in the car. With airfare so high, I will gladly take 4 more hours in the car to save about $1,200.

I think with it being so far out, the airfares are going to be high. I would wait and see, especially since it sounds like a couple airlines haven't even released schedules for that time yet.

Our next flight is going to be in March 2013 and I'm already nervous. Not sure what to expect.

I'm with you on that one, March 2013. I'll be watching 3-4 airports. I looked at Thanksgiving rates from DTW, :scared1: it's like x3 of what I've paid in the past when we did the full week at WDW.

We were going to do WDW for early November, doing the  at airfare. So I started playing around with my Delta FF miles, and was able to get 4 25k tickets to LA, so we are going to DL instead. A week ago I made the reservation at VGC.

We are going for Thanksgiving as well and I was getting anxious waiting for Airtran to release rates. I kept checking every day but schedule is only out to November 2nd. I posted on Southwest's facebook page asking when they will extend Airtan's schedule and they actually replied and stated that at this time they expect to extend the schedule on May 21st. :scared1:

I really didn't want to wait til May! But I know better than book before they release rates because airtran Rochester to Orlando has been our best prices the last 5 or 6 WDW trips!

They said that at that time that it will be extended to Jan 4th.

I still keep checking because she said that it could be subject to change but that was the plan. I was pleased that they did respond though.

I am seriously hoping to get down to $350 pp from November 16th-26th. It probably won't happen but a girl can dream. We are doing this trip regardless but there won't be too many extras in the spending department if we have to pay 500+ pp for airfare!
