I live in Canada, so between exchange rate differences and foreign exchange fees, canceling a reservation usually means I lose money -- USD$100 may originally cost me CAD$120, but now when it is refunded I only get credited for CAD$110, losing $10 in the process.
To try to avoid this, I am wondering if WDW allows the following:
- all reservations booked online via WDW website
- all reservations are ROOM ONLY reservations
- I am use whole numbers to simplify the example
- currently, only deposits (one night of stay) have been made
Assume we have three reservations:
- ReservationA, two night stay, $1000 total, $500 deposit paid
- ReservationB, one night stay, $500 deposit paid (full cost)
- ReservationC, one night stay, $600 deposit paid (full cost)
IF we cancel ReservationC, can its $600 be transferred and split 50:50 between Reservation A and B as a ROOM CREDIT, instead of being refunded to the credit card ?
If yes, this gives a $300 room credit to each of A and B. For A, that presumably would go towards the remaining balance due.
For B, that would be a straight credit on the room, which we plan to use for meals and such.
If B is one week before A, and we only use say $200 of that $300 credit, can the remaining $100 AGAIN be transferred as a ROOM CREDIT and be applied to A ?
OR, could it be transferred to a Disney Gift card (which we would then spend during the stay at A).
Hopefully this is not too confusing.
Goal: minimize the amount, if any, that has to be refunded back to the credit card, since any refund results in a loss of $$. Therefore, keep the money in Disney's pockets for as long as possible until as much as possible is spent.
Thanks for your help.
