Canceling a Delta ticket

I bought a one way Delta ticket for my DD to go on this up coming trip, and now she has moved out of state. How do I cancel this ticket with out a fee being charged on my credit card? Please help.TIA

A fee will not be charged to your card in any instance. If the ticket cost more then $150 you will have a credit for future use (Credit is the difference between what you paid and $150 and must be within 1 year of the date you purchased the original ticket. I think only your daughter can fly on that credit also). If the ticket cost less then $150 you are just out of luck and won't have a credit to use.

You just call and cancel...

If you bought a nonrefundable ticket then there is no canceling it.

You can cancel it, you just don't get a refund.

Delta has increased their change fee to $200 (as did most other legacy airlines). So if the ticket was more than $200, you can save it and apply the difference to a new ticket within 1 year of original purchase.

All the information you need is easily found on Delta's web site.

That said, you don't need to do anything, as the change fee is more than the value of the ticket. Just abandon it.

Honestly, I would suggest giving it a go. Call Delta reservations (800-221-1212) and ask what your options are. I would recommend stating you'd like to save as much as possible for a future travel, as it will most definitely be on Delta .

Worst case, they follow the rules and you're out the ticket. However, Delta may bend the rules and offer a credit.

In the end, it can't hurt to ask.

Not going to happen, especially since OP is not an elite frequent flyer. It won't hurt to ask, but will be a waste of time. The only option is to abandon the ticket, as the value is less than the change ticket fee. How could you get a credit for a negative amount

The credit will go on file but when you try to rebook, that's when the $200 change fee comes in and makes it worthless.
