We are 445 days out!
I've started a tag on Tumblr with Disney spam, thought I'd post a picture a day on here, too.

So, here we go!

I vote monorail resorts! It's a lot of fun to get off at each resort, take a walk around, see the pools, etc. You can pose for lots of fancy/fun pictures (especially in GF and Poly which I think is fun!)

Remember- no dancing on the monorail, though! :rotfl:

Riding the monorail is fun but I think it might make us want to jump into a park seeing as how we'd be so close,YET SO FAR! :faint:
I'm still hoping to convince them to buy an additional one-day parkhopper so we can do our 'favorite hits' on our last day. Last year, I managed to hit all four parks in one day before coming back to the hotel for ME. I was pooped!

My goal is to do all four parks in one day. I've heard that its no easier feat though!

Bumpity bump bump bump!

I know this trip is so far away but I can't keep it out of my mind.
Oh, it probably doesn't help that I listen to a bunch of WDW podcasts at work each day.

I knew Free Dining would most likely be offered during our visit but I had just put that thought to the back of my mind as I only considered the AFS (Armed Forces Salute) promo. But then I got to thinking (a dangerous pasttime, I know) and wondered which promotion would really save us the most money seeing as how we were already planning to get the dining plan. Initially I was thinking if the DP was worth it to begin with (a very hot topic nowadays) and closed that book rather quickly; for a few reasons actually: we're eaters , we love food, and pre-paying won't lead to sticker shock when we get home and look at our bank accounts:faint:. I mean, leaving Disney is already depressing enough and looking at an empty bank account would just add insult to injury :worried:.

I spent a good portion of this evening (last night? Oh dear Lord, it is 4am!:faint:) calculation hotel, dining (or free dining), tickets (AFS discount and MYW), etc.

Well, I have come to the conclusion that we would save more taking advantage of Free Dining.

Surprising? Indeed!
Undoubtedly, if we weren't sharing a room or were going during peak seasons the room discount would have been better. BUT since we are sharing the cost of a moderate hotel room during value season, the savings weren't too great.

After calculating the rack rate (with addt'l adult fee and tax included), Adding a 1-day MYW base ticket (required for Free Dining), gratuities (used in either scenario), and our AFS discounted 4 day PHs......
Drumroll, please!..........................................................................

We would save as a whole, $230.77 of our package price (sans airfare as we are flying in from different locations).

While my savings is miniscule (less than $20), it really make a different for my DSis and DBIL. :thumbsup2

Glad you figured out which discount works best for you! I know for a lot of people (myself included) DDP isn't necessarily a savings. It's definitely worth a set of calculations to explore your best option!
