Canceled due to covid

We were supposed to leave for Disney on Friday but my 11 year old tested positive for covid on Thursday so we had to cancel our trip. I was so looking forward to Christmas at Disney! Can you guys help me get excited for Disney in January? I’m worried it will be freezing and not as special as it would be decorated for Christmas. Basically I’m having a pity party. I’m thankful my son is asymptomatic and no one else has tested positive (yet).

I don't think it'll be freezing (where are you coming from)? Then again, I LOATHE WDW when it's hot - so, Dec is my time of year. We're going Jan 29 this time around - I think it'll be nice (will also miss the decorations - but lower crowds sound good!).

MD so it will definitely be warmer than it is at home. I am looking forward to low crowds too. Also, we were staying off property but my husband took pity on me (this is the second trip we’ve had to cancel due to covid. We had a false positive keep us from going to Puerto Rico the day before we were supposed to leave this summer!!) so he said to book a Disney resort. So I have that to look forward to now at least.

Depending on when you're going, the Festival of the Arts at Epcot may be a good opportunity for something special that doesn't happen in Dec!

Jan is a great time - way less crowded and you'll get to ride lots of rides.

Hope your 11 year old is feeling OK and thank you for being responsible and not getting the rest of us sick! We appreciate it.

We love visiting in January -- on of our favorite times of year. Will be down for MLK weekend and we can't wait!

Damn, sorry the trip got postponed. But remember, its only been postponed, not canceled ;]

Disney is special all the time, and you should have good light crowds at that time. Don't fret on not seeing the Christmas lights.

Light crowds and short lines are always good. And we are all so busy Oct-Dec so a January trip is always exciting since it’s such a boring month!

Low crowds!!!!! Maybe even walk on lines. Disney weather is unpredictable. Sometimes it is freezing in December- sometimes hot. The average temperature in January is in the low 70s, so that would be wonderful weather. Although, it is probably like December where you never know what you are going to get. You might wind up with better weather in January than you would have had going in December. Hopefully some of the many kinks will be worked out in Genie + by then. I would rather stay at a Disney resort in January, than stay off property, so that it is plus too. It is always kind of depressing when the holiday season is over and you have something to look forward to.

So very sorry- but also be glad it happened before your trip instead of on your trip. Hopefully he will not develop symptoms, and this will give him more immunity which makes for a less stressful trip later. Fingers crossed that no one else tests positive.

Our January trip last year was our best trip in 20+ trips. Granted things weren’t back to normal yet and crowds were light, but the weather was amazing! Even wearing masks wasn’t that bad. It was our first (post?) pandemic trip. I wish they could all be that way minus the pandemic.

January in Florida is very unpredictable. We go often due to low crowd levels. Most days are in mid 70s to low 80s. You can get a Cold front the drops temps to mid 50s/60s. Nights can get raw with wind and chill factor. Depends on your tolerance. Pools are all heated though.
