Cancel trip because of rising COVID rates?

I think the answer is in the fact you are asking. Go with your gut.

For me, I'm not canceling anything. If a place is open, I'm going.
For others, they worry about stuff.

In my opinion, and I'm not a doctor nor do I play one on TV, it is more risky to go to an extended family Thanksgiving get together at this time than it is for my family to fly to WDW. But you know what they say about opinions....

This is how I feel as well. The same people IRL who would likely judge me for going to Disney have been having small gatherings all over the place including Thanksgiving. We have been isolating like hermits, yet I feel Disney is safer than said small gatherings. Also, the way I see it, the risk I am assuming will not impact anyone in my community because we will quarantine and be tested upon return, which most of these small gatherings are not doing. So I feel ahead of the game in that respect.

I would do the thing that causes the least amount of distress. I know I wouldn't enjoy the vacation (of course I'd have to quarantine for 2 weeks afterwards) so I'd be in the yeah, cancel bucket.

The airport is my main concern. I don't wear glasses, so I dug out my DIY glasses(protect my eyes while painting, hammering. chipping...etc) to wear at the airport. Tried them out today with my mask and gloves. Not too bad.
... Its a look.

Plenty of others have posted their thoughts on Disney's safety and how to handle your gut instincts. I agree 100%.
I'll add that infection rates are pretty high across the country, so if you're doing things that are open in your community, even once or twice a week, you're just as likely to get sick in WDW (probably more so because Disney has been so strict relatively).
We went in August, and are back next week.

For those worried about airports being "less safe" than WDW, DW and I have had a handful of work flights though we are still largely "grounded" right now. Airports in the western US have been a beacon of what to do more so than Target, Albertson's, et al. Specific to Delta and American, though different in approach, both are extremely stringent in the rules they've set forth. Even on full planes (75%+), I've not felt unsafe.

Don't listen to the noise of travel shaming from your neighbors hosting extended family for hours, and enjoy the holidays wherever you decide to do so.

I suppose you can "feel Disney is safer than said small gatherings," but factually that ultimately depends on whether or not you come into contact with someone (or something) long enough to catch it yourself. I do believe that WDW is taking many precautions and is trying its best to keep people safe, but it's still up to both Disney and people on site to be responsible and follow rules for everyone to stay safe.

But regardless of that, the idea that your risk doesn't affect others is false. If you catch covid on the way to Disney, you have the potential to expose it to anyone. That's great you will quarantine when you return, but what about the time in between?

Appreciate the feedback, it certainly helps. My fear isn't with being in the parks though as the many (obsessively too many!) YouTube live streams of what the parks are like right now really helps one to see the precautions put into place. My concern is the airport for me in Philly, the flight, the airport in Orlando, etc.

If I could be in Florida right now, I'd be at the park today.

EDIT: haha... just saw you have a livestream link in your sig. Thanks for killing more productive work time for me!
First week of Dec here too and same concern about PHL

I personally don't feel comfortable traveling by plane this Winter, with cases rises exponentially. I think things will improve going into the Spring or Summer, so I would rather try to go then. Obviously everyone should do what they are comfortable with.

so with this logic - my risk of catching COVID is just as high in every day activities such as the grocery store or my kid going to school?
If I come into contact with someone in target where they do not enforce masking then my risk is higher vs a place like WDW where things are being kept more consistently cleaned and policed.

I haven't really followed any news other than wdw covid news, is there a spike in flight attendants, airport workers, getting covid? I see here most people concerned about air travel

I fly out tonight. If I’m going to be anywhere, might as well be the masked Disney bubble. (This is my second pandemic trip to Disney - first was in mid -September so I know what to expect)

This! I feel safer at WDW and Universal than I do spending hours, possibly days, in my house with my BIL. I’m sure he would find that weird, but we have been staying home mostly and wearing masks. I would insist that we all wear masks in the house too if he visited. I also suspect that he’s not as diligent about these things as us or views the risks the way we do. I suspect my contact time with strangers at WDW would be significantly less time, mostly outdoors, and mostly with masks,

We are not going to cancel and did not consider it. That being said, we are not high risk, in good physical shape and our family understands that our exposure could impact them so they have decided to stay away for a couple of weeks once we get back.

Not that I've seen, most of the cases in those groups were back when we weren't wearing masks. Most cases in my locality trace to small group indoor gatherings in peoples homes, especially since the weather got cold.

My point was that people participating in small gatherings are not being tested and not quarantining. I said I felt like “I was ahead of the game” because I will be doing those things, therefore risk to my community is very low. I am not sure what is wrong with that statement...,
