Cancel Policy for National?

Anyone know if you don't show up for your car at national, do they charge you? 1 day? enter contract? I've read where people have national or dollar ressies and decide last minute at time if they want what is on EA, But the question is DO YOU GET Charged?

Depends on your contract. You need to read that when you book since different contracts have different deals. I do the basic midsize and I have never had a cancellation penalty.

National Car Rental may charge a fee for vehicles that are reserved but not rented, if the reservation is not canceled 24 hours prior to anticipated arrival.
No-show fees will be billed to the credit card given at the time of reservation.

we missed cancelling a reservation with national on a trip last year...we are emerald club so they have our credit card on file....

when we got back i called to apologize and asked what had happened to the reservation...

the agent we spoke to said the "reservation dropped off" after 24 hours and that we would not be charged...

so perhaps another instance safetymom of the right and left hands not co ordinating at national.....even though the policy is posted on the url you put in your reply

this is only our experience, does not say it holds true for every instance...

National, for the type of reservations we make, doesn't charge for no shows. They do charge for some car classes. They also charge if you want make some type of special reservation that holds the car past their normal standards. I asked once but didn't get the exact wording.

BUT it doesn't make sense to use EA if you're expecting a mini-van, the days of getting significant free upgrades is gone.
