Definatly go. As others have said, you never know what lies ahead, and you should take the opprotunity to enjoy life while you can, and make some wonderful memories while you are at it.

i would go. after your 6 months severance pay runs out, you'll be able to collect unemployment for 7 months, won't you? i know that's not full pay but at least you have some income for at least a year and i'm sure you can find a job in that time frame.

15 years experience with same company, with the right attitude you will score a new job straight away, people love the loyalty. Man i wouldnt cancel! do u get your money back if you cancel? How many souvenirs do you buy! have a great time

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. My dh and I have discussed this at length and have decided that we will take the vacation as planned. My children are 22 (how many trips do we have left with her?), 5 and 2. The little ones won't be little for long -- my ds starts Kindergarten next week. We are also going through a very difficult time right now with my dh's mother -- she was put in Hospice on Tuesday and is expected to pass within the week. I think the trip will do us all some good and I can always seek employment afterwards if necessary - I am working with someone within the same company (another department) who is working with "creating" a position for me. I have known her since I've been here and she said it would be a shame for me to leave and is doing everything possible to make sure that doesn't happen.
