Cancel dining plan at check-in?

I am renting points the first week of November. We did add the dining plan to our reservation. Now we have decided to pay out of pocket. Do I need to contact the member we rented the points from and have her contact Member Services to cancel the DP or can I just cancel at check-in? I have searched and searched and can't find this answer anywhere!

Any changes to the dining plan (including removing it) need to be made by the member with DVC member services at least 48 hours prior to your arrival date. The front desk can't remove or change the dining plan.

yes. the member will need advance notice so they can cancel it at least a couple of days prior to check-in.

Just to add additional info for anyone else wondering, on the rare occurrence they allow you to cancel the DDP at checkin, it is a major issue.

The front desk has to manually cancel the entire reservation which will put the points into holding and then rebook it without the DDP. Most of the time they dont have access to the holding points immediately so they take current points for the rebook. All this is done in the back office and it can take a really long time. I had a different situation, which caused me to have to change categories at check in and it was not something I want to repeat.
