Cancel Delta ticket?

I booked my flight yesterday for Delta May 14-18 2010 for $280 (including the $18 travel insurance) and it turns out I might be having to cancel it.

Does anyone know what their cancel/refund policy is?

I spent the extra $ for the travel insurance since I'll be alone. I was planning to go down to WDW and work (I'm a seasonal CM) but it turns out my ID may have been shut off and I would have to cancel the trip.

I tried to read about it on the site and it seemed really confusing and I'm not sure if the travel insurance would cover that or if it's just if the airline cancels or if bags are lost or damaged.

Thanks!

I seriously doubt it. If that were the case, everyone would buy cheaper non-refundable tickets and an $18 policy and get all their money back if they changed their mind. You'd have to review the policy - perhaps call their customer service, but I think they'll tell you the following (from the Access America page that the Delta site links to):

Q. Can I cancel my trip for any reason and get all my money back?
A. No. Trip Cancellation coverage will only refund prepaid, non-refundable payments if you have to cancel for an unexpected covered reason. Covered reasons include sudden medical emergencies, death of a family member or traveling companion, certain terrorist acts, bad weather that completely shuts down your common carrier, or being called for jury duty. Please see the Certificate of Insurance/Policy for complete details. Simply changing your mind is not a covered reason.

Did you buy the ticket at delta.com? I knew you could cancel within a certain time of purchase, so I found this for you. You may be over the time limit, so you cancellation fee will apply. Insurance is for emergency cancellation, not a decision change.

Terms & Conditions

Tickets/Cancellation:
Cancellation request must be made by midnight of the day after the eTicket is purchased or midnight of the departure date of the first flight, whichever comes first. Available only for eTickets purchased at the time of reservation through Delta ticket offices and airport ticket counters, Reservation Sales, or at delta.com.

I'm probably the only one, but I don't understand what you mean by "my ID may have been shut off". Are you saying that you aren't going to have your license or something for ID and that's why you're canceling?

Since she said she's a seasonal CM, I thought it was her Disney ID.

ya sorry , it is my work ID that I'm thinking was shut off since I'm seasonal with WDW.

I was able to cancel the ticket last night since it was within the 24 hour period. I'm not sure how much it would have cost if I had waited. Airtran's page seemed a lot easier to read when I flew with them last month. It was clear and cut that to cancel or change a ticket it was a flat rate of $75.

Thanks for the help, we'll see what happens in the future!
