Cancel/change initial res or just addon?

We're thinking about adding a few days onto an existing ressie. I vaguely remember reading a post where someone was told they'd have to check out and back in at the add-on point. Is that true?

Is it easier to just cancel the initial ressie and remake one with the desired days included, or is it okay to just tack on the extra days?

Thanks for your help!

You got some bad info. You do NOT have to check out, the add on will just be added to your original reservation, or "linked" to the original. DO NOT cancel the reservation you have, you might not get that room back.

As long as it's the same resort, room type, view, etc; it will be treated as one reservation.

I think the case where they had to check-out and check-in was a case where the 2 reservations did not match up exactly. I think it may have been going from a BCV 2 bedroom w/2 beds to a BCV 2 bedroom w/1 bed & 1 sofabed.

You would also have to checkout and checkin if you go from a points reservation to a CRO reservation (like an AP rate).

If the additional nights are for the exact same type room, you can just add onto the original and not have to checkout and checkin. If additional nights are not available, you could ask about getting another type that is available for the entire time.

Thanks everyone! That's what I was hoping but had been thrown by the post I saw a few months ago!

Can't wait to add on an additional 2 nights!!!
