Cancel BoG-- how late?

How late can I cancel a BoG res without penalty?

I have a breakfast reservation for this Sunday, but was only able to get it for 2, and I need 4. I've been trying for months to get the other 2. I know my chances are better the day or so before, but if I'm not able to get a second reservation, I'll need to cancel the first. How late can I wait? The email just said a day in advance, but I don't know if that means 24 hours, or midnight the night before, or what?

Also, if I DO get the second reservation, I don't have to actually buy food for everyone, right? That's a pretty expensive breakfast, and I know 2 reservations would give us two platters of pastries... my allergic daughter won't be able to eat those anyways. That's a lot of food. Is it ok to order one adult meal on one reservation, and one child meal (catering to allergies) on the other, even with 2 people on each reservation?

If you paying out of pocket you can go to Trails end instead, it's a buffet (18$ for adult) but ask for allergy free items, They Will show you what she can eat.

Thanks. It's our only park day (pre-cruise), so we're sticking to things inside MK. Was hoping for that pre-RD adr so the kids could see the park a bit before the overwhelming crowds. No big deal if we don't get it, just don't want to get stuck paying if we wait too late to cancel!
