Canadian Resident 25% Ticket Discount - Offer Until Feb. 28, 2018

From what I have found out from others having the same issues...if you have previously purchased on the Disney site or app then there is no problem and the transaction authorizes. However, if you are new to purchasing (either creating a new account or not used your credit card/billing address previously) then there is some kind of glitch that is not recognising the Canadian addresses. I think (hope) they are working on it as there seem to be many frustrated people on their Facebook page right now!

Well that sucks for the new customers (not a good Disney experience). I've had an account for years, and it sailed through without difficulty.

If it's the same as last year they'll require passports. I had to show our passports, no copies, on our first day. Once the ticket was verified I didn't need them again.

Thanks, looks like I have my passports in the park for 1 day.

When we used our Canadian Resident tickets in March/2017, I only had photo copies I emailed myself on my phone (didn't want to haul my passports around the parks all day). They were accepted with no issue. Once they verified our citizenship and took our photos, they never asked for any sort of ID ever again.

You got lucky. I guess it depends on the CM working but after my experience I would just take the passports instead of risking having to go back to the hotel if they won’t accept copies. I didn’t need ID either after the first day but on the first day she specifically asked for our passports, no copies. If I’d had only a copy she’d have sent me away.

Did they ask for everyone's passport?

I’m thinking no you can’t. It states on the Expedia website that you must present proof of residency.

Can you tell me where on expedia you are seeing this? It's definitely not on the area where I bought tickets so now I am wondering if I even got the resident deal - the price worked out the same, but there are many restrictions on the voucher I got that are not on the deal (can be used ONLY on the dates I selected, expire 13 days after start of calendar year, no mnetion of being a resident?)

I’ll try to find it again and post the link for you if I can. I’m not always very good at posting links!

I can’t find it again but it was definitely there! You could try it but it would sure be crappy to get to the gate and be turned away. The deal is for Canadian Resdidents and Disney’s policy is that ID is required so I wouldn’t be surprised if they ask for it at the gate as soon as they see that it’s a Canadian resident ticket, regardless of what’s on the Expedia website.

No, I'm not going to risk that - I'm just worried about the other terms printed on the voucher itself! Right now we are planning on going Jan 3-6 and hopefully that won't change, but IF something happens and it does, according to the voucher it says it can only be used Jan 3 and will expire 13 days after start of new calendar year. The Canadian resident offer doesn't have those terms.....so now I'm a little worried!

You had to preselect your dates? I totally missed that. I definitely didn’t have to do that purchasing through Disney. Does it say Canadian resident ticket on your voucher? Mine expires Jan 13/19. Is that the same as yours?

Interesting. I’m not really sure!
Mine definitely says that it’s a 5 day Canadian resident hopper so maybe yours isn’t Canada specific then?

I'm going to be purchasing my tickets today (before the increase), but was wondering if anyone could help me with a question I have.

I am trying to purchase 5 day hoppers for DLR on disneyland.com and use my US credit card for payment (it's linked to our US address). It's not working. Apparently, they need to be purchased with a Canadian credit card (linked to a Canadian address). Does anyone know how to get around this? I asked about purchasing gift cards and apparently, that doesn't work either.

Do you not have a Canadian credit card though if you live in Canada? I am thinking if you are trying to use a US credit card, to avoid fees and all, that it won't work as the deal is for people who are not living in the US, which is a criteria for having a US card.

I did not have any problem using my US credit card to buy the passes online. I did it through the website while signed in to my Disney account.

To the above poster, you can definitely have a US credit card when living in Canada. I would.just make sure your billing address is a Canadian one.

Thx for the response. Unfortunately, my billing address is our US address...not our home address. I don't think there's any way around this. I have enough AM to purchase the tickets there, but I wanted to save the miles for flights. I have that US account specifically for these instances. I have a few more hours to decide before the price increase :D
