Canadian Magic ~ June 10, 2012

Welcome, Chiefos! I can't imagine booking a cruise only one month before! I booked this on the first day it was offered. That gave me WAY too much time to plan LOL!!!!

I am with Chiefos, glad we finally got a date for vacation. Will be driving to NYC for this cruise, a little longer than the 45 miles to port canaveral from our house.

I was hoping to know whether we could take this cruise prior to the FE cutoff but understand have to cut off somewhere.

Thinking about the lanyards, would really like to see a picture of them to make a decision.

Sure will need to bring some sweatshirts because anything under 70 is a little chilly.

Finalizing excursions, looking at the Peggy Cove at one port and the railroad and hoho at the other.

Hopefully we can get a palo reservations when we board but if not at least we have been.

So excited to cruise out of new york.

Welcome DeAnna!

Most of the discussion for this meet group takes place on our Facebook page. Send a PM to PJStevens if you would like to join.

The railroad tour to the Reversing Falls seems to be a popular excursion. Several people have mentioned they choose this excursion, including us.

Hope to see you at the meet and greet on embarkation day, 3:00 p.m. at the Promenade Lounge, Deck 3 AFT.

Thanks for the welcome. Do not want to post on facebook because we are surprising family in new york after the cruise and they are on our facebook friends.

Thanks for information on meet and greet.

I am back!! Just finally got home from the 15 day Hawaii Inaugural cruise out of LA. IT was amazing...so beautiful!!

FE UPDATES:
Still awaiting cabin numbers for two people - hopefully they get them to me!
I will put a write on board on my cabin door (7631) for any late changes.

How many folks will want printed copies of the list? I can print them out the day before we sail and will have them with me.

============================================

Don't know why I didn't see this. Sorry Cathy.

His name is Andy.

Kim
Got it...I added him to the list - no more ?? !! LOL

=============================================
Hi my name is JR and we just booked today and am so excited about this cruise. :yay: I'm sure Deanna will chirp in here shortly as she will be the fish extender contact. This will be our 5th Disney cruise and definatly not our last.
JR - I didn't get any PM from you asking to be added to the list - it was closed before I left for Hawaii on April 30, I can ask that people add you, but the list officially closed over 2 weeks ago.

I don't read the FB page, so if you asked about it there - I would not have seen it.

Hi,

I'm just reading along here. Totally wishing I was cruising again........ We finished cruise # 2 on the Magic just 4 weeks ago. I'm excited that you will be sailing to our home town (Halifax) in a few weeks. I will surely go visit the ship at the cruise terminal, just because.

We are looking forward to Cruise # 3 in December 2013. Hoping the Magic stays in NYC for 2014.........

Enjoy!! Halifax is a great city and I hope you enjoy your visit!!

OK - I FINALLY have information about them....Michael emailed me an image of what they are going to look like...I like them a lot!

I added his paypal address to the Google Doc for each cruise (three are going to be the same lanyard, since they are all inaugural cruises from NYC) Michael has already ordered them and they will arrive by Thursday!!!

He is asking for contributions of 25.00 from each group that indicated they would assist in the costs. So, if you signed up with multiple people saying "yes" then ONE contribution of 25.00 is all he is asking for.

I am not sure I can post his paypal account here....so if this is edited I will repost without the paypal account:

Anyone wishing to contribute to the cost of lanyards - please sent Michael 25.00 at this paypal account - please mark it as a gift

We can't wait to vist your wonderful city! I was last there in September, 2000 on a Carnival cruise. It was one of the hottest summers on record and I couldn't wait to escape the heat of NYC.

Ok, if you wanted to go for a lobster lunch in Halifax, near the waterfront, where would you as a "local" go?

So personally I don't like lobster, but here are some great places to eat on the waterfront that are walking distance from the cruise terminal.

- The lower deck

- Salty's

-Murphy's on the Water

The Split Crow Pub in Historic Properties is another but you'll see and hear lots of live music in the area as you pass by, have fun.

Also, may I suggesst Pier 21 as a great museum to visit, the Halifax famers market (walk from the cruise ship), Peggy's cove (it's an excursion I'm sure it's about 30 minutes by bus or car but very neat)

Citadel Hill - is a historic site in the middle of the city

I'm sure Disney has all of these lined up as options for excurions. There are lots of food trucks with fish and chips and goodies along the waterfront area too.

Lastly I do have to recommed you try Beavertails - it's on the waterfront in a small kiosk type store. It's not really beaver but fried whole wheat pastry topped with yummy things.

Enjoy Halifax and I will stop by to wave to the Magic!!

I'm hoping that the NYC sailings are doing really well, I'd definatley take the 8 day cruise to Nassau from NYC in 2014. Enjoy your cruise and your time in Canada!

I would just like to clarify something in response to a PM I received. We are NOT selling these lanyards. They are a free gift to any who sign up. The contribution we are asking for is just that...a voluntary contribution to say you are part of the lanyard support team.

This has been the practice for many cruises and done by many people. I do not want anyone to feel that we are trying to extort and coerce anyone. The lanyard originator (in this case Michael) usually takes a bath in the costs. There are minimum number of lanyards to purchase, and the cost of printing all the name tags as well as a set up charge for a custom lanyard to consider.

If my syntax has led to any confusion regarding this, my apologies - this is all meant to be a fun process and to provide each of us with a cute and useful way to remember the cruise.

I am sure that the moderators would have sent me a message if they felt I was trying to sell something (against the rules of the Dis!) on these boards, I have not received any such notice or PM...so please understand Michael chose to take on the lanyard production knowing that he was going to spend the money. He enjoys seeing other people have fun with what he gives away. So please - thank him, wear the lanyard and have a great cruise!!!!

Cayla

If we miss you at the Meet N Greet - we are always deck 10 Starboard at sailaway - our tradition!!

See you onboard!

Cayla, I don't think it ever came across that way. Sorry is someone there was confusion. I think it's great of Micheal to take on that task. I can't wait to meet you all!

it wasn't your PM - someone made an observation and I wanted to be sure that it was completely clear...that is all. No harm, just clearing up any muddy waters!

per her post on the FB page - Linda SeaULater is not sailing - I removed her from the FE list...sorry for the late notice, she didn't PM me...I found the post accidently
