Are we allowed to talk it? Any gut feelings of who will be the Prime Minister this time next week?

Amazing turnout for voting so far so that is great to see.

So far the Liberals are 6 points ahead. 6 days left. Canada wants Harper out but we all said the same thing about Christie Clark here in BC back in 2013, no way was she getting in. She got re-elected.

I'm sick of the election commercials and phone calls now, for the simple fact that I voted in the advance poll on Saturday night and now I feel like 'hey, I've voted, let's get this movin' LOL

Any Americans want to weigh in? Would be interested to hear your viewpoint.

Political discussions are against the rules.

It's only Canadian politics lol

We complain because this is the longest election ever...it's been 11 WEEKS.

I think we're being pretty harmless.

Maybe try speaking for yourself. Looking forward to having the Liberals and NDP split the vote and the Conservatives coming up the middle for another term. The Greens may help a little in BC and the Bloc in Quebec. :thumbsup2 (P.S. Stephen Harper is my MP.)

I do agree with TV Guy though - we probably shouldn't be doing this; it's a blatant violation of board guidelines. The thread is likely to get poofed and we may end up with points.

I'm not interested in listing what my alliances are or anything, I'm just pleased to see the turnout. There were 60-90minute line ups in the advance polls...most of the places. I budgeted my time so I could afford to stand for possibly 90 minutes. I got to the station and started the marshall because he hadn't seen people up 'til that point. If it hadn't been for the sign I would have thought I was in the wrong place. There was only one other voter. But other places around town were lined up.

Voted on Saturday as well. I'm predicting that our longtime conservative riding will go liberal. The conservative incumbent took a major hit in the local papers by skipping out on an all-candidates meeting, and I don't think she'll recover from it.

Bummer. This thread has the potential to get even more interesting. But I don't think anyone wants any points against them :crazy2:

I think as long as we keep it civil it will stay open. The gun threads have been pretty heated lately and they've been kept open, with some warnings and some cleaning. I've seen threads asking for bible verses so I think we'll be ok.

I think Canadian politics as a whole are WAY tamer than American politics. So, please everyone, let's keep it nice and Canadian so it can stay open :)

Where are all these controversial gum threads I've been missing??? ;)

I, too, hope that if we're able to respectfully discuss the election, TPTB will let us keep this thread open. While I definitely have my preferences on who I'd like to see as the next PM, at least we can all rest easy that it won't be Donald Trump!

LOL peppermint vs spearmint can be pretty controversial in some circles.

I'm peppermint all the way myself.

The current polls don't support your theory but I do think we are now headed for a minority Liberal government.

I'm getting tired of the attack ads, especially Harper's continuous attack on Trudeau's hair. Is that jealousy coming through? ;)

I do agree that if Jack Layton were still alive, the NDP might win. But Mulcair is definitely no Layton.

What I find extremely interesting in reading interviews is that many younger Canadians are coming out saying that they seem to align with the Green Party, but that they won't vote for May because it's a wasted vote.

I hate attack ads, I think they are insulting to the voter but someone must like them.

I think Layton's bubble would have burst by now, I think there success last time was more of a timing thing than a strong belief in the NDP.

I suspect your right. I still wish Garneau had won the liberal leadership race...I think we'd be seeing a liberal majority if he had. At least Trudeau will have a full cabinet of experienced statesmen to work with him if he wins, and he seems to be learning quickly how to better present himself to the public.
