I also have a quick question about the ING US Acct. I just opened up a savings account with ING today ( thanks for the info!) and will also be opening up a US Acct with them. I have a CIBC US Acct and was wondering if I need to link the 2 US accts by way of a cheque like you do when you open up a savings account?
The CIBC rate was $1.07 today as I bought some $....looking forward to the better rates on ING.
I also have the CIBC USD account and have it linked to my ING account. It works like a charm!
I didn't get cheques for my CIBC account. It'd have cost $30 and they are virtually useless as they're still cleared in Canada, meaning no US business will accept them.
All you need to do is go to your CIBC branch and tell them you need a form from them for direct deposits/withdrawls to your USD account. They'll print it off with all your account information on it, and sign and stamp it with the branch stamp. Send this to ING instead of a cheque. That's what I did and it works fine.
