Canadian Buffoon's Solo Disney Vacation - Update 07/08! pp99 - Here today gone tomorrow

Well, I had almost my entire update all typed and ready to go.
All the calculations were done, winner decided, etc.
And I'm real careful to always keep a back-up in case the DIS makes it go poof.


Well, the DIS made it go poof... and I must've overwritten my back up by mistake.


So... it just might be a while before I get the next chapter out.
Last time it took me over two hours to calculate all the points!

Oh no! And extra math too! Yuck! you poor thing!

So in the meantime, I'll regale you with another mesmerising Real World Update!!!

I was wondering how things were going with your planing!

Ah, yes. There's always a but.
There has to be. Otherwise we could not sit. We'd have to kneel all the time.
And frankly, I don't want that kind of stress on my knees.

What she doesn't realize though, is that if we took that flight,
we'd arrive at MCO at 11:29pm on Tuesday and have to leave Thursday morning.
So all that travel for one day in the park.
Yeah. No.

What a stab in the gut to see her get so much hope.

Now I haven't even looked to see what attractions may or may not be open in the Fall.
But I can see the writing on the wall.
"Ruby, would you like to delay our trip to Deadwood?"

Yes. Yes she would.
So now I don't even know when that is happening!!

Can't say I blame you and her for that. A vacation isn't much of a vacation if you are burnt out and exhausted going in.

So Kay and I have our flights booked and we're booked into Pop
from August 21st to 27th.
Everything's booked!

WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY!!!!

So glad you were able to make something work! I'm sure that her excitement has been wonderful to experience.

It's shame about your South Dakota trip, but YOU'RE GOING TO DISNEY! Yea!

I won't be there at the same time, but I am going back this fall! And we're staying at Pop Century, too. No free dining though - we didn't decide we had to go until 24 hours after the deadline for booking free dining!

Try booking BOG for 1 person. My DH and I did that. Got our reservations close to the same time, when we got to the restaurant, we asked the cast members if we could go at the same time. They let us. It was fun sharing that experience with my DH.

This is how I do my updates.
I do all my typing in this box... but on another of my threads.
That way, if I need to post or reply here, it's not in the way.
I can even leave it and come back and it'll still be there.

But if I leave it for a few days, it usually disappears.

So what I do is save it in a Word document.

Well, I stupidly saved something else over top of it
and when I went to the other thread, it was gone there too.

So totally my fault, but... sooooooo frustrating!

Can you re-book? They have free dining for booking through Aug 7 I believe for fall dates.

Always a good idea. Even with this new auto save feature. I've found that it's reliability can also be questionable.

I told her about it as an example of how difficult it was to find a decent flight.
Well, she told Ruby (she didn't get the chance to tell me yet)
that she would be happy to sleep in the airport,
just like they do in The Amazing Race.

I love her desire and conviction!

I know it will be magical, and she has an Ace Tour Guide to take her around!

I can NOT wait to read all about it! It will be hot there. Really hot. Early mornings and nights, go swimming in the middle of the day. We just returned and we are fairly used to the heat, but sheesh.... Florida heat can be overwhelming.

Got the cheap flights I was looking for.
Plus upgraded the free QS DDP to standard DDP.
I didn't know you could do that at a value!
(Kay said that she wanted to try some "nice" restaurants. Not just QS.)

Yes it was a crazy travel day indeed. Our stay may have been cut short for our stay near the Belmont, but we still stayed a week in NY.

I keep meaning to.... and life keeps getting in the way!

Believe it or not, Lady H let Smidgy know that we were going to be in Chicago for the night. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet up with them this time. She said they live an hour away and by the time she saw Lady H's message, it was already too late.

I agree with this statement.

I'm not going to quote the entire story Mike, but oy vay!
The joys of airline travel.
In the end though, you got to where you wanted to go and got to see what you really wanted to see.

I wasn't really expecting you to but it was truly a trip we'll never forget, that's for sure.

But.... why couldn't you have made it the night before if your bags did????
That's... weird.

There was another flight to LGA that left at 9:30AM, or something like that. I remember some of the flight times as I was booking our flights. I bet they put them on that flight. They should have put us on that flight as well. Oh well. We made it at least.

Did you go up WTC? Is it even available for that?

Yes, we went up. That's the new one world trade center in the background behind us. Although the building itself opened in October 2014, the observatory on the 100-102 floors had just opened up on 5/29/15. 12 days before we visited it. Lady H found out about it and we bought tickets in advance. Which was a good thing because the line to get in was super long.
