Canadian Buffoon's Solo Disney Vacation - Update 07/08! pp99 - Here today gone tomorrow

Says the guy with this -> :drive: in his siggie!

He's clearly driving a slalom course. Totally different.:rotfl:

So, stuff to do at Disney...here are the little things we enjoy:
  • Ride the monorail around Epcot at night, just to see it lit up
  • Using night-vision goggles at the savanna at AKL
  • Ride Thunder Mountain at night
  • Watch Wishes from the Poly Beach (with a Dole Whip)
  • Watch Streetmosphere performers at DHS
  • Ask the front desk for a Hidden Mickey scavenger hunt page at Wilderness Lodge
  • Haven't done it yet, but we'd really like to do the Characters In Flight balloon at DTD
  • Any of the behind-the-scenes tours
  • Listen to the Voices of Liberty
  • Give yourself permission to skip Journey Into Imagination and IASW

I really enjoyed your trip report from Toronto, I have only been to Niagara Falls..The aquarium sounds like the one in Gatlinburg, which we go to a lot, my grandson loves it and everytime we go to the Smoky Mountains, he has to visit the aquarium..I grew up watching racing, my dad raced on dirt tracks and asphalt while we lived in Ohio, and then ran a dirt track in Ky before he passed away..Now my husband and I watch Nascar, ,used to have season passes to Bristol, but got to be too much of a hassle to attend, so now just watch on tv..anyway, just wanted to say I am looking forward to your next trip report..hope you and your daughter have a fabulous time..

There's an easy cure for that.
Just get rid of your opinions.

Trust me. I know people like that.
"So, blah blah blah politics/life/whatever... what do you think?"
"I dunno."

sigh.

Opinions are over rated anyway, who needs them!

That's how I got my start.
I was reading a TR by a guy and started commenting.
Finally, some nice people asked me to write a TR on an upcoming trip.

Boy I bet they're sorry now!

I don't think anybody is sorry that they coaxed you into writing a TR, mine will be on Disneyland though, so probably not as elaborate or interesting but I think I probably will write one.

Good luck if you decide to carry through with it!
I warn you, it turns out to be a fair amount of work, but it's fun, too.

Thats the thing, I want to write one but I also will be working full time and going to college full time when I go to Disneyland so it sort of is daunting and I don't want to start one unless I am going to finish one, knowing myself I will sacrifice some sleep or studying for the TR. HAHA I am such a good student! :stitch:

I see lots of people have made great suggestions on activities for your trip with Kay, so I'm sticking with the "snacks"

Try the cronut, it's a croissant, it's a doughnut, it's cinnamon shuggary bliss
image.jpg
Found at the Refreshment Port world Showcase, Epcot.
Then mail me one too while you're at it!

Also in Epcot, the Strawberry or Mango oolong tea slush found at the Joy of Tea in the China pavilion

Good stuff!

Fun update. At some point, Mark and I really need to come to Canada and do some exploring.

The food looks yummy (that turkey sandwich, despite the fact that I am NOT a big Traditional turkey kind of person, looks really good. And Mark is drooling over your pie like you wouldn't believe...it's actually quite embarrassing.

I skipped most of the race car stuff...sorry...it just doesn't appeal to me.

Things to do/snacks:

My favorite snacks are the Mickey shaped pretzel, Disney popcorn, Grand Mariner Slush in France, Mickey bar, Grand Mariner Slush in France, chocolate moose in Norway (yes, I know that's not how you spell it), Mickey Ice Cream Chocolate Cookie sundae (in Animal Kingdom); cronut at Refreshment Port in Epcot; Grand Mariner Slush in France
,
Some fun things to do: Listen to Voices of Liberty; listen to Captain_Oblivious ONLY on It's a Small World and do NOT miss Figment in Journey Into Imagination, go Mini-golfing at one of the courses, watch the Japan drummers, go to the Frozen Sing Along

In my case it's actually "Hair yesterday, non today"
I maintain a “Mutual Follicle Nonaggression Pact” with mine. According to the points laid out in the MFNP, I resolve to an outright ban on dyes, treatments and all use of “product”, limit cuttings to 6ish week intervals, and refrain from blow drawing or other noted follicle rights abuses. The treaty farther stipulates that the follicles are entitled to turn as gray as they please and become wavy, unkempt and disheveled with no threat of retaliation (think of the picture of Einstein), so long – and this is key – so long as they continue to maintain proper anchorage and troop levels.

It’s a tense standoff, but in the spirit of Détente all parties have thus far abided the treaty.

A public service is what I offal.
Public Haggis?

Ohhhhh
Very kind of you then, I am "umble".

Hey, I like turkey on the holidays.
Of course, it's because I brine it first... so it's edible... and only once... maybe twice... a year.
It’s good in casseroles or as a smoked lunchmeat. But the birds have been overbred for quick growth and ample breast meat to the exclusion of all taste and texture. Brining does help but it’s rare that anyone can do it much justice. When forced, I try to stick to the dark meat, but it’s actually the “Enforced Tradition” that makes me nutty. Just because it’s a holiday does not mean that you have no possible choice other than to eat this one particular thing to the exclusion of all other options.

A pox on all the Victorians and their ridged rules of decorum!

Only problem is, what I would've had for later would've been a puddle of melted chocolate.
Then again, it's a rental... let them deal with getting the stains out.
I hear (and recently read) of far worse intrusions upon the sanctity of rental auto upholstery.

I don't mind the meringue ...
(or the merengue either... see My Blue Heaven, Rick Moranis, Steve Martin)
but I consider it something to get through on the way to the good stuff.
I try never to dance (It’s just better for all concerned).

As for that other stuff… My issue is I don’t much like the flavor of egg-whites. When you remove the yokes you render them nearly inedible (to me at least), and for some reason even when dowsed by large amounts of sugar, I tend to notice them.
<<shudder>>

I didn't want to embarrass you by saying that I saw your... uh... um.... last part of "embarrass"

Embarr-*** me?
Dude, you’re the one that’s lookin’ in.
I should think that you’d be in need of an immediate optometric evaluation to assess any potential damage.

I don't know if I'd do that or not.
Part of me would really like to have it.
But up here you can only drive them for a few months out of the year.

Might keep it for a year and then sell it.
To be sure, it would be highly entertaining. There are many, many high-end vehicles that I’d love to have parked in my garage (that I need to build), and in a perfect world… well…
But I like the one year thought.

Then again - a used MX5 would also be fun to tool-around in (at a fraction) and I’d likely have enough left after that to replace most of my “fleet” with “newer” used variants.
Boring? Yes… just being practical.

Hmmm... I wouldn't know since I've never been.
Open wheel racing has the pit area, which is located adjacent to the track and used during on-track activities.
Re-fueling, tire change, minor repairs and adjustments.
The paddock area is where the motorhomes and semis are.
Some semis are strictly for transport,
but some semis are rolling garages where they can pretty much build the car from scratch.

Generally for drag race events, the pit area is just like the paddocks except that all maintenance is done there and it’s also usually open to all attendees. Watching the crews completely dismantle and rebuild the engines and most of the vehicle between each race is – to me – more fun than the actual rounds (especially as in person, you only really have a decent view of the start of each heat).

Yeah, probably. But Andy would've missed it.
A salvo at my nemeses…
And I didn’t even have to lob that grenade over the fence.

Board or bored?
Blasted autocorrect…

And how many of us were convinced... convinced! that driving race cars was our calling.
I doubt there's a boy alive who hasn't thought that while idling at a red light.
Not many gals either from my experience.

Moronic? Idiotic? Foolhardy? Illconsidered?

Am I getting warm?
Even strung together, I don’t think words approach a proper description of this instance.
Language simply fails on this level.

Never seen the Jaminators, I like that one.
Sum of all Thrills is one of the few things that Kay mentioned, actually.
She has had Beverley, so I won't be able to sucker... er, fool her again.
The boat might be an idea, though.... hmm. Where's the dock for that one?
(Going on the list)
The “Jams” are fun (as are most of the Atmo-musicians on world).

The boat docks right outside the International Gateway (between the France & England pavilions).
In truth, you can probably get to Boardwalk a bit quicker on foot, but the boats are an attraction in themselves.

I wouldn't mind exploring Tom Sawyer Island myself,
(never been)
but I don't think it's in Kay's area of interest.
I get that…
To me, the barrel bridge and escape tunnel in Fort Langhorn (when it’s open) are worth the side trip alone. One can easily regress about 40-odd years in age without realizing you’ve done it.
(or worrying about what any of the other “grown-ups’ think about you).

But with a teen at your side, momentary regression may not be allowed.
The eye rolling alone could cause serious injury.

I like the wedway after dark option, though. That's going on the list.
That’s a good one; very relaxing. Another point is that your eyes don’t have to adjust as the train goes in and out of the attractions (allowing for the best views of SM in particular)

Sword in the stone! You know, I don't think I've ever even seen it. On the list.
It’s by the carousel and makes for a nice photo- op. They used to do a ceremony with Merlin for the little ones, but have since stopped that I believe. But… There are still reports that from time to time, for unexplained random reasons (like maybe if the young lady is just cute enough, oh and mickey ears might help too), you can give it a yank and the sward will still move. You just got to be lucky.

I thought the phone no longer worked?
Hadn’t tried it in a while. If so, that’s too bad.
I’ve always liked little hidden things like that.
Last time we were there the phones in England no longer worked either.
Another unfortunate loss.

Wilderness Explorer. I think we'll at least take a look at it and decide from there.
I may pop back over to the Mara for some ZDs..... :rolleyes1
No sense in missing ZDs and taking a moment or two to just watch the critters hanging around the Savannah area.

You can do as much or as little of the WE booklet as you want. Some of it is silly (ok, most of it is), but it’s a diversion. Just remember… The wilderness must be explored!... Kaw, Kaw!... Rawr!

I was contemplating the mini golf.
We have a free coupon. But... the stars would have to line up just right, I think.

Watching the water parade is on the list, but who knows if it'll happen.
Those are “if there’s time” attractions. Worth doing at least once if you can swing it but don’t lose valuable time on the detours if you don’t have it to spare.

Nope. You've got some really good ideas there.
Some I hadn't thought about, so that's all good.
Thanks!

Just another public service that I offal…

I arrived at the mall shortly after 10am.
Having never been here before, I was really unsure what to expect.

One thing I didn't expect, was that the entire mall was closed until noon.
Well... who would have expected that?

Please. I'm a guy.
I don't shop in malls any more than I have to.
Get in, buy what I came for, get out.

I got out.
Ok, I've got more faith in your judgment. I kind of wondered what you found so appealing about a mall to begin with.

I remembered, years ago, my sister taking me to a place called The Distillery District.
Sounds like my kind of place!

I think my favourite store had to be the home-made chocolate shop.
For obvious reasons.
That sounds like my kind of place too!

Lunch first. Then dessert.
Um... why? Chocolate is always good!

NO I AM NOT GOING BACK TO WENDY'S!! :headache:
Mmmm... Frosty.

What I am doing is heading back to Wanda's Pie in the Sky.
Hello! There are pies that haven't been tried yet!
Oh yes, by all means! If there are more pies to be conquered, you'd better make sure you get back there!

IMG_0732_zpsec0hxvhg.jpg
:scared1: What happened to your rental car???? Good thing you got that insurance issue figured out!

This time I tried a slice of lemon meringue pie....
Oh, man. Possibly the best lemon meringue pie I've ever had.
Wait a minute... you only got one pie? Aren't there more pies to try? You couldn't manage to eat another slice or 2?

The evening flew by and before we knew it, it was getting late and we had to leave.
I don't see my Sister enough.
It's always such a joy when I do see her and totally sucks when it's time to leave.
I don't expect to see her again until Christmas.
I'm glad you managed to get some family time in during the trip. Too bad you don't get to see her very often, but I'm glad you seem to have a great relationship with her when you do get a chance to spend some time together!

I know Andy will find this interesting.
This should be good... I hope!

I printed off the ticket and... it was good for the next 10 hours.
It was the amount that I'd maxed out.
$6.75.
Pleasant surprise!

And why is that important?
Because this weekend is race weekend.
The Indy cars were in Toronto for a race.

While I wasn't going to be in town for the actual race,
I was in town to see a practice session.
And anytime I get a chance to see those incredibly quick cars in action,
is a good day indeed!
Heck yeah!

(i.e. I despair if I miss recording an Indy race
but just feel annoyed when I miss a F1 race.)
::yes:: And it is even a bigger challenge the way they jump around from channel to channel. I mean really, CNBC????? :confused3

So the cars rapidly decelerate from about 200MPH down to 50 or less.
It's the best place on track for passing.
I knew, since it was a practice session, that there would be little passing,
but I would be able to see the cars come screaming down Lakeshore Blvd,
slam on the brakes, turn about 90 degrees and accelerate.
::yes:: If you can't watch actual racing, nothing better than the sound of the engines revving and gears shifting.

I looked up and Ryan Hunter-Reay drove up.
Cool!

He stopped, looked around, obviously came to the same conclusion I did,
which is to say that it was a dead end, and turned around.

Well, if Ryan Hunter-Reay is going to turn around, so am I.
If he can't figure out where he's going, you're screwed.

"Hi, I'm pkondz. I write a TR on the DISboards and have about half a dozen readers.
I'd like to request a free all access photo pass? Thanks."
Think it would work???
Worth a try!

I was in between the two fences.
Um... I now know why I kept getting stopped.
I'm in the restricted area between the fences.
Only Press and Indy event staff are allowed there.
I managed to pull this one off at the Brickyard 400 this year. I gave us a pass to walk on the track at IMS for free with our race tickets... we're ticket holders and have got them every year. They let us on the track at the turn 4 end of pit road. We were to walk down the track to the yard of bricks, and we were apparently supposed to cross pit lane and exit the track near the pagoda.

Well, the yellow shirts didn't exactly make it clear that we had to leave right there, so we might have checked out the pits and garage area on our way out... :rolleyes1

Not to highjack your TR, but this is how close we managed to get undetected without a pit pass...

20150726_125250.jpg

I turned around just as a man in a golf cart drove up to the gate in question.
I followed him out.
And as I did so, I could see that there was a path that angled off in the right direction.
It wasn't visible to me before, you pretty much had to know where it was to see it.
Hmm... well nothing like making it easy for the fans to find where they're going. :headache:

But I also noticed that the track was slowly drying out.
With any luck, by the time the Indy cars took to the streets,
the track would be dry.
Bummer! I was kind of thinking it would be awesome to see them driving on the wet track throwing rooster tails!

I took a bunch of photos with my iPod
Awesome!

but I'll only post a couple of shots.
And both of the same car.
:headache:

And it wasn't even the 15 or 67 car... :rolleyes1

I could've reached out and touched them, I was so close.
I refrained.
I don't believe in bugging people, just because they're celebrities.
And I don't collect autographs.
One kid (about 16? 18?) jumped in front of a driver so he could take a selfie.
I noticed the driver's fleeting pained expression
before he dutifully smiled for the camera.
I could almost hear his thoughts.
"He's a fan. Be nice. Don't kill him."
I appreciate your approach to it. I think it is cool to get to see them, but I try to respect them as well.

A friend of mine had his bachelor party this year when the NASCAR series was in Kentucky. We camped out and went to play golf the morning of the race. We got to the golf course and found out that several of the drivers and TV analysts were also on the course. We saw Steve LeTarte and Michael Waltrip on the driving range and putting green before we Teed off. Michael was very nice and said hi and kind of made small talk for a bit. The race fan in me was going crazy with excitement, but we definitely made sure to respect him and his privacy and not ask for selfies or autographs or anything.

I must admit that I was pleased when Sarah Fisher walked by
close enough that she almost bumped into me.
She's one of the few women who've raced in the league.
Now she's the only female owner of a team.
Her story is pretty special, isn't it? I've got a lot of respect for her and all she's accomplished. It sounds like the big boys are trying to lure Newgarden away, but I really hope they can stay together. They've got a chance to do some special things.

I hopped out of the car... and couldn't open the gas tank hatch!
(Sounds familiar to some of you, hmmmm???)
I think I've heard this story somewhere... :scratchin

I looked everywhere in the car and couldn't find a release button.
I finally had to grab the owner's manual to figure it out.
The button was located... inside the map pocket on the driver's door.
Yep... Charger. :headache:

He looked at the receipt in his hand and said. "Looks like it's already taken care of."
The receipt was for the original $212 amount.

Wow. That was easy!
Awesome! I really expected this to be some kind of screwed up ordeal.

The flight home was also uneventful.
Ruby had some chips! Yay!
Money well spent.
I'm glad you finally explained how that works to her.

I'll try to give you some ideas. I'm sure most have been mentioned. I tried to look through a few posts as I paged through, but honestly, I was 3 pages behind so I didn't read all the comments word for word...
Peanut butter chocolate cupcake at Starring Rolls
Caramel corn from Karmel Kuche
The Olaf Strawberry Lemonade popsicle that they sell at the frozen snack carts around the parks - Seriously, it's good. Chunks of strawberry frozen into the bar. Should be a nice refreshing snack in the heat of August.
I can never resist ice cream from the plaza
Churros from La Cantina De San Angel. They're different from the churros you get other places around WDW and I like them better.

Fun things that are overlooked?
I saw Mark mention riding the monorail through EPCOT at night... +1
Just take a walk around the resort. One of the most enjoyable evenings I've ever had at Disney World was walking around the paths at Pop with my wife and sisters.
I'm sure I'll think of something else later, but this is all I've got right now. I don't think of too many things as being "overlooked." It seems anything I can think of is somewhat common knowledge among most on the DIS.

But the most important thing I want to suggest... Go meet Ariel and make sure you get a picture with her! :rotfl2:

Hey Ponzi!!! I've not been able to get on the Dis much lately but I've just caught up with your mini TR ! Thanks so much for posting!

My cousin lives near Toronto (Kingston) and is about to have his second child - so hopefully my family and I will be heading over to Canada some time in the next couple of years! I'd really like to visit Toronto if/when we get there. And holy moly, I WILL be spending every meal time at Wanda's Pie in the Sky!!! They look SO good!

And Casa Loma looks awesome!! I love this picture you took, and how you can see the skyline through the trees :lovestruc

Fun updates!

Also, YOU'RE GOING TO DISNEY SOON. YAY! :dogdance:

...wanders in at not only the end of the Disney trip report but also after the T.O trip report is finished.... :tiptoe:

Oh! Hi Ponzi!! Don't mind me...I just left for a snack and got distracted by...stuff.

I did finish both reports though!

My suggestion on weather or not to do a PTR...do one, but make it all up. That way we will be so very confused (more confused) when we're reading it :Ppopcorn::

He's clearly driving a slalom course. Totally different.:rotfl:

Straight off a cliff.

I really, really like the monorail idea.

I think the night-vision goggles are only for guests, no?

BTMRR at night is already on the list. Great minds think alike.
Which of course doesn't explain why we did.

I know lots of people like to watch wishes from there,
but I like to be right in the thick of things on Main St.

Streetmosphere. Love 'em.

Don't think we're going to make it to WL this time around.
Or DTD.
I looked at a few tours, but they're either of little or no interest for Kay,
or they're prohibitively expensive.
Good thought, though.

Voices of Liberty is on my list... but definitely not on hers.
Unless... do they do Marilyn Manson covers?

Journey into Imagination will definitely be skipped (again)
but IASW? She want's to ride it like I did.
And I'm okay with that.

But do spend some time trying to catch the water streams around the jumping fountains
(or pushing someone else directly into their path)

Uh, huh. I'm having enough trouble just getting her to go on Splash,
because she doesn't want to get wet.

I really enjoyed your trip report from Toronto,

Thanks! :)

I have only been to Niagara Falls..

Nice, though, right?
Did you see it lit up at night?

The aquarium sounds like the one in Gatlinburg, which we go to a lot, my grandson loves it and everytime we go to the Smoky Mountains, he has to visit the aquarium..

::yes:: Same company, so that makes sense.
Although the one in Toronto is (I think) bigger than the one in Gatlinburg.

I grew up watching racing, my dad raced on dirt tracks and asphalt while we lived in Ohio, and then ran a dirt track in Ky before he passed away..Now my husband and I watch Nascar, ,used to have season passes to Bristol, but got to be too much of a hassle to attend, so now just watch on tv..

Cool.
Must admit, I'm not a Nascar fan.
Saw too many races where there was zero passing, just the train.
So I'm strictly an open wheel fan, I guess.

anyway, just wanted to say I am looking forward to your next trip report..hope you and your daughter have a fabulous time..

I hope so too! I guess we'll find out soon! :)

Opinions are over rated anyway, who needs them!

Not me! At least in my opinion.

I don't think anybody is sorry that they coaxed you into writing a TR,

Ask the people who aren't reading here anymore!

mine will be on Disneyland though, so probably not as elaborate or interesting but I think I probably will write one.

It can be as elaborate or as lite as you like.
Best thing about it is, you're in charge!

Thats the thing, I want to write one but I also will be working full time and going to college full time when I go to Disneyland so it sort of is daunting and I don't want to start one unless I am going to finish one, knowing myself I will sacrifice some sleep or studying for the TR. HAHA I am such a good student! :stitch:

Well, you'll figure it out, I'm sure.

Sleep is overrated anyway.
(Says the guy who never gets enough...)

I see lots of people have made great suggestions on activities for your trip with Kay, so I'm sticking with the "snacks"

I'm okay with that!!!

Try the cronut, it's a croissant, it's a doughnut, it's cinnamon shuggary bliss

I did! I had one in February... and I can't wait to
a. have another and;
b. see if Kay loves it I much as I did!

Then mail me one too while you're at it!

 I can't guarantee freshness...

Also in Epcot, the Strawberry or Mango oolong tea slush found at the Joy of Tea in the China pavilion

Hmmm... the only tea I like is Canadian ice tea or sweet tea.
The taste of tea by itself is not my thing.
What do you think?
Sure sounds intriguing, though.

Fun update. At some point, Mark and I really need to come to Canada and do some exploring.

Says the lady who's moving farther away from it!

The food looks yummy (that turkey sandwich, despite the fact that I am NOT a big Traditional turkey kind of person, looks really good.

It really was good.
If someone was to give me just a plain ol' turkey sandwich... well... no thanks.

And Mark is drooling over your pie like you wouldn't believe...it's actually quite embarrassing.

It's my pie! Hands off!
Mine! Mine, I say!

I skipped most of the race car stuff...sorry...it just doesn't appeal to me.

That's perfectly okay.
Besides, I only got kicked out, it's not like I got arrested or anything.

Things to do/snacks:

Oh, goody.

The Grand Marnier Slush is already very high on the list.
And if I have as many as you've indicated, I'll be very high too!

Popcorn on the list already too. We seem to be on the same page.

Chocolate mousse in Norway. At Kringla I presume?
No coconut in that is there?

I've never heard of the Mickey Ice Cream Chocolate Cookie sundae
Whereabouts in AK is it?

Some fun things to do: Listen to Voices of Liberty; listen to Captain_Oblivious ONLY on It's a Small World and do NOT miss Figment in Journey Into Imagination, go Mini-golfing at one of the courses, watch the Japan drummers, go to the Frozen Sing Along

Funny, I'm probably going to reverse your IASW and Figment suggestion.
Mini golf is a possibility, we have a free coupon.
Just don't know if we'll have the time.
We'll see.

Watched the Taiko drummers in February.
I must admit they were only moderately good.
Then again, we have a world class group here, so I'm biased.

The Frozen Sing Along, huh?
Not just for the wee folk, is it?

The Frozen Sing Along, huh?
Not just for the wee folk, is it?

I had a good time at it, my 20 year old DD, not so much. I really liked the little kids singing along. They really belted out the songs. So cute!

I can therefore conclude that my scalp is to my hair as South Korea is to North Korea.

Public Haggis?

I never haggis in public.

It’s good in casseroles or as a smoked lunchmeat. But the birds have been overbred for quick growth and ample breast meat to the exclusion of all taste and texture. A pox on all the Victorians and their ridged rules of decorum!

I dunno. I really look forward to it since it's (usually) just once a year.
I enjoy the tradition of it.
Plus I make so much other stuff that you can have as little (or as much) of it as you want.

I hear (and recently read) of far worse intrusions upon the sanctity of rental auto upholstery.

It's not like I dumped cherry coke on it or anything... :rolleyes2

I try never to dance (It’s just better for all concerned).

And we thank you for that.

As for that other stuff… My issue is I don’t much like the flavor of egg-whites. When you remove the yokes you render them nearly inedible (to me at least), and for some reason even when dowsed by large amounts of sugar, I tend to notice them.
<<shudder>>

Ah. Well, scrape the whole mess off and focus on the lemony goodness.

Embarr-*** me?
Dude, you’re the one that’s lookin’ in.
I should think that you’d be in need of an immediate optometric evaluation to assess any potential damage.

I tried!
But I couldn't see to find the danged phone! Let alone the optometrists number.

Then again - a used MX5 would also be fun to tool-around in (at a fraction) and I’d likely have enough left after that to replace most of my “fleet” with “newer” used variants.
Boring? Yes… just being practical.

I've had/have a few friends with those.
While the guys get bugged ("How's your girl's car?"),
they all love their cars.

I'd like that. Might have to look into taking in an event.

A salvo at my nemeses…
And I didn’t even have to lob that grenade over the fence.

You're welcome.

Not many gals either from my experience.

True. Actually, a lot of girls seem worse than the guys.

Even strung together, I don’t think words approach a proper description of this instance.
Language simply fails on this level.

Gave it my best shot.

The boat docks right outside the International Gateway (between the France & England pavilions).
In truth, you can probably get to Boardwalk a bit quicker on foot, but the boats are an attraction in themselves.

Got it. Thanks.

To me, the barrel bridge and escape tunnel in Fort Langhorn (when it’s open) are worth the side trip alone. One can easily regress about 40-odd years in age without realizing you’ve done it.
(or worrying about what any of the other “grown-ups’ think about you).

Sounds like it's right up my alley.

Which sounds dirty, but isn't.
Unless the alley's dirty, I guess.
But you could sweep it out first, I suppose.

Um.

What?

But with a teen at your side, momentary regression may not be allowed.
The eye rolling alone could cause serious injury.

::yes::

That’s a good one; very relaxing. Another point is that your eyes don’t have to adjust as the train goes in and out of the attractions (allowing for the best views of SM in particular)

Oh! Never even thought of that aspect of it.
I was thinking more of the night lights of MK.

I think they still do it, although it's infrequent.
Thanks for the heads up.

You can do as much or as little of the WE booklet as you want. Some of it is silly (ok, most of it is), but it’s a diversion. Just remember… The wilderness must be explored!... Kaw, Kaw!... Rawr!

Yeah. If anyone tries to get her to Kaw or Rawr...
they'll be skewered by that eye rolling you mentioned earlier.

Those are “if there’s time” attractions. Worth doing at least once if you can swing it but don’t lose valuable time on the detours if you don’t have it to spare.

That's what I figured.
I just don't know with this kid how much or how little she'll want to do.
So mini-golf is a definite possibility.

Just another public service that I offal…

:lmao: That's funny! Where did you hear that one?!?!?

Well... who would have expected that?

The Spanish Inquisition??

Ok, I've got more faith in your judgment. I kind of wondered what you found so appealing about a mall to begin with.

I was really hoping for some cool stores. Weird stores. Interesting sights and smells.

Yeah... not so much.

Sounds like my kind of place!

Honestly, I think you really would've liked it.

That sounds like my kind of place too!

::yes::

Um... why? Chocolate is always good!

Oh, that's an easy one to answer.

Because I was incredibly stupid.

See? Easy!

Mmmm... Frosty.

Oh, you just had to say that, didn't you!

Oh yes, by all means! If there are more pies to be conquered, you'd better make sure you get back there!

::yes::

:scared1: What happened to your rental car???? Good thing you got that insurance issue figured out!

:rotfl:
Could you imagine taking one back like that?

Wait a minute... you only got one pie? Aren't there more pies to try? You couldn't manage to eat another slice or 2?

Didn't want to spoil my appetite too much before going to my sister's.
As it turned out, I needn't have worried.

I'm glad you managed to get some family time in during the trip. Too bad you don't get to see her very often, but I'm glad you seem to have a great relationship with her when you do get a chance to spend some time together!

::yes:: We used to fight like cats and dogs in our teens (what siblings don't?)
but now we have a great time together.

Pleasant surprise!

A lot cheaper than $35.
And not much farther away, really.

::yes:: And it is even a bigger challenge the way they jump around from channel to channel. I mean really, CNBC????? :confused3

:sad2: I know. It's a hunt every time.

::yes:: If you can't watch actual racing, nothing better than the sound of the engines revving and gears shifting.

Love that sound.
The very first time I went to a race was in Toronto.
DW had no interest in going.
And then she heard them practicing and her eyes got really big.
"Wow! I didn't know they'd sound like that!"

(Turbocharged at that time.)

If he can't figure out where he's going, you're screwed.

Meh. He's only got to find his way around a track with only a pit exit.
I shouldn't have trusted him.

Worth a try!

 Can you imagine?

That's awesome! Didn't you feel a little bit like you were part of the crew?

Hmm... well nothing like making it easy for the fans to find where they're going. :headache:

No kidding.
Hello! Maybe a sign might be nice?

Bummer! I was kind of thinking it would be awesome to see them driving on the wet track throwing rooster tails!

The thought crossed my mind.
If that was the case, I would've staked out a spot near the start/finish line.

And it wasn't even the 15 or 67 car... :rolleyes1

Must admit that I'm not a huge Graham Rahal fan.
Although he's having an incredible year this year.

Newgarden is really growing on me, though.
Both because of his driving and his team.

Cool! How did they drive the golf carts?

Her story is pretty special, isn't it? I've got a lot of respect for her and all she's accomplished. It sounds like the big boys are trying to lure Newgarden away, but I really hope they can stay together. They've got a chance to do some special things.

::yes:: I'd like to see them stick together too.
But money is always a big incentive.

I think I've heard this story somewhere... :scratchin

:rolleyes1

Yep... Charger. :headache:

:sad2:

Awesome! I really expected this to be some kind of screwed up ordeal.

I was so ready to fight!
Had my game face on and everything.
And then.... oh.

I'm glad you finally explained how that works to her.

Still nice to have the extra leg room and early boarding.

Caramel corn, huh? Hmmm.... man, there's so much in that place that makes me drool.
The cupcake might be problematic for the same reason.
That popsicle sounds good, though. That's a new one for me.
I do know about the Cantina Churritos. But first I have to have my first churro!

I saw Mark mention riding the monorail through EPCOT at night... +1

::yes:: I really like that one.

Just take a walk around the resort. One of the most enjoyable evenings I've ever had at Disney World was walking around the paths at Pop with my wife and sisters.

I know Kay will want to sleep in every day,
so I plan on getting out and doing just that.

But the most important thing I want to suggest... Go meet Ariel and make sure you get a picture with her! :rotfl2:

:lmao: good idea!

Hey Ponzi!!! I've not been able to get on the Dis much lately but I've just caught up with your mini TR ! Thanks so much for posting!

Hi Katie!! I've missed you!
I keep hopping over to your TR and you show up here instead!

My cousin lives near Toronto (Kingston) and is about to have his second child - so hopefully my family and I will be heading over to Canada some time in the next couple of years!

If/when you do, you let me know! Okay?

I'd really like to visit Toronto if/when we get there.

You should. So much to see and do there.
Certainly more than the little bit I showed you.

And holy moly, I WILL be spending every meal time at Wanda's Pie in the Sky!!! They look SO good!

::yes::
I want to go back right now!

And Casa Loma looks awesome!! I love this picture you took, and how you can see the skyline through the trees :lovestruc

Thanks! I liked that one too.
I kept wondering what the view would've been like back when it was first built.

Also, YOU'RE GOING TO DISNEY SOON. YAY! :dogdance:

I am? Why look at that! I am!
