Canadian Buffoon's Disney With a Teen Vacation - 08/13 - The Wrap

Great update.

Thanks Dee! :goodvibes

I don't enjoy shopping, so I would be with you and Kay. The ABC store is cool, though!

Okay, if we ever meet, we can run screaming
from any shopping opportunities we encounter.

That is hilarious about the stealth sand stealing.

 She was worried.

We stayed on Ka'anapali Beach. Beautiful and fantastic snorkeling!

We couldn't do any if we tried.
Water was too turbulent and full of suspended sand.

Napili looked like a really pretty cove.

It really was. I like the smaller beaches.

I have never heard of Dragon's Teeth. I love how helpful everyone was, even though third time was a charm.

I came across it when doing some research.
Glad we went to check it out.
And yeah. Everyone was so nice and wanting to help.

I know, right??!?

That was a great gif of the "lion" eating. I find things like that to be very cool. You may want to remember that...

Uh, oh.... would I be in trouble if I didn't???

6 am, "Oh the Horror!"

2. We launch on an all day excursion.
What is it?

Road to Hana

3. Kay makes a new best friend.
Figures... She's an animal lover.
What is it?
Hint: Not a dog or cat.

Bird

4. We try a local baked treat that Elle thinks
is better than mine! What is it?
Hint: It's not been mentioned before.

Banana Bread

5. Did you see it? Bonus points if you did.

Saw it.

6. How many beaches do we visit?

2

7. What do I eat for supper.
Hint: think local.

Poke

Noted.

Vests as far as the eye can see.
Even the bride!
It's a little blurry,
does it say "Probationary Outlaw"
on her vest too?

It says "Property of Outlaws" ( :rolleyes2 yeah, they were a little sexist)
She didn't wear it for the ceremony she was a normal bride for that :-)

So Luna it is.

That's a cute name, I'm sure it'll grow on you

It says "Property of Outlaws" ( :rolleyes2 yeah, they were a little sexist)

Bikers? Sexist?
What is the world coming to!

She didn't wear it for the ceremony she was a normal bride for that :-)

Only push it so far, huh?

That's a cute name, I'm sure it'll grow on you

Oh, probably.
But right now, it feels weird.
I'm trying to make a conscious effort
to use her name, so she can learn it.
But I find I'm using "puppy" or "pup" more.

Although "Critter that keeps messing on my floor"
would be more accurate.

What's the over/ under on how long it takes before the puppy is being called "Loonie?"

Very very cute though. Don't tell my DD you got a puppy - she wants one in the worst way. (the worst way being whining and begging for the last 10 years, in case you were wondering). She works at Gillette Stadium where the NE Patriots play and last year she had to work the Taylor Swift concert. She came home all excited - no, she didn't meet Taylor Swift, she was security for Taylor Swift's parents, who were accompanied by TAYLOR SWIFT'S DOG!!!!! OMG!!! She will never get over the excitement. Apparently the "puppy" was an enormous Marmaduke-type dog named "Kitty." (Look it up - no lie). And also apparently TS's parents were very nice people who, at the end of the night, made sure to bring Kitty over to say goodbye to my DD before they left. Mr. TS also gave her a handful of TS guitar picks, which he keeps in his pocket to hand out to the little people, but that's another story.

She never stopped talking about it. I told her you are the only person on the planet who, if given the choice of guarding world famous multitalented superstar Taylor Swift or taking her dog out for a walk, would answer, "OMG!!! OMG!!!! Taylor Swift has a dog!!???"

Cool shot!
Wish I could've seen one in real life.
Ah well, maybe some other time.
How close were you to that?
The one on Maui has warnings
not to get too close apparently.
I took it three years ago, but if I remember correctly the water shot straight up so I could get fairly close for the picture.

Oh, the horror! I'll try and come back and comment on everything, but loving the update. The pictures are truly incredible. It seems like the people in Hawaii are very friendly and helpful.
Next round:
1. What time do I leave the room for breakfast?

5. Did you upgrade the seats to recliners?
6. 2
7. Poke with some type of Hawaiian bbq.
You know I actually had to research these answers. What I do for my dear pkondz!

How sweet that little puppy is! What did she name him/her?

Might not get a chance for shout outs for a day or three.
Busy few days ahead.

She puts the winter stuff away...
and then we have a snow storm.
She puts the summer stuff away...
and we have a heat wave.

Every. Stinking. Year.
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

We wandered around a bit more.
Not with anything in mind,
but we'd told Ruby and Elle we'd meet up in 45 minutes
and the time wasn't up yet.
In other words, you and Kay went shopping to avoid going shopping. :rolleyes1

"Oh!" She says. "Huno! Right over here."
"Um..." Says I. "I thought turtle was 'Honu' in Hawaiian?"
"Oh right!" She says. "You know more about it than I do!"
But really, what does she actually need to know. Her job is selling overpriced crap to tourists.

"Fifteen." She repeated.
So I bought it for her.

And I saw Kay wearing it just the other day.
So, good investment.
Much better than $400.

When Ruby and Elle were done with the ABC store,
they wanted to see the little jewelry store I'd found.
I have no idea why we split up in the first place.
:sad2: Aside from the cat gif, you really made no solid argument for parting ways.

Makes you want to go, doesn't it?
::yes:: Beautiful!

Suddenly Kay let out a squeak.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"I almost got the bottom of my pants wet!" She replied.
:rotfl2::rotfl: :lmao:

Oh, the horror.
Say "Oh the horror" for bonus points!
Oh the horror!!!! :scared1:

The upside for me was that they got our parking validated.
Sweet! Free parking.
Awesome! Your free parking only costs about $299 in overpriced soaps.

She came out just to make sure I'd find it.
I was struck by her thoughtfulness.
That really is very nice. I'm glad they were so thoughtful to go that far to help you out. I'd think they'd get tired of tourists who don't know where they're going.

The teeth were formed during Maui's last volcanic lava flow.
The lava reached the ocean and the waves and wind
pushed the lava into these vertical "teeth".
It really does look like you're in a dragon's mouth.
Cool!

Indeed, my list was merely a collection of possibilities.
Not a "must-do" list.
Makes sense. Hard to have too many must dos when the trip is so quick.

And as we drove, the sun began to set.
I have no idea when she took this shot,
but I think Kay got the picture of the trip here.
Wow... even more impressive if she got that from a moving car.

while I contented myself
with some raw veggies and hummus.
Yeah right...

And Kay didn't particularly care for her tartar sauce.
It was a bit tangy-er than she's used to.
So we switched dips and we were both happy.
Also, we had a different waitress who seemed more
on the ball than the one from the previous night.
Oh... you were serious. :rolleyes1

1. What time do I leave the room for breakfast?
6:45

2. We launch on an all day excursion.

Yes. Nice banner.

6. How many beaches do we visit?

7. What do I eat for supper.

Hawaiin BBQ pork

I feel like I'm so far behind now! I know I'm still caught up update-wise, but to post my reply three whole pages after??? Sigh. It's because I'm only on week 3 of my new job and I'm trying to be a good little employee and not goof off on the computer. And I could use my tablet at lunch, but replying on the Dis takes 5 times longer without a mouse/keyboard.

We popped into an ABC store.

I had to do some research on this, because here in NC, the ABC stands for Alcoholic Beverage Control. Still one of my favorite stores, but last I checked they didn't sell flip flops

We popped into a store called Maui Divers Jewelry.
It sounded interesting, but it was a black hole.
A black hole is an area in space where if you enter,
you can never escape.

I hate those!!!! Found a couple of those in the Caribbean when I was on a cruise. It's also why I have mixed feelings about craft fairs...I love seeing all the different things, but I always feel awkward when the craftsman is standing right there staring at you perusing their wares.

And I saw Kay wearing it just the other day.
So, good investment.

Points for Dad!

Say "Oh the horror" for bonus points!

Oh the horror! Oh the humanity!

She came out just to make sure I'd find it.
I was struck by her thoughtfulness.

Maybe she recognized a kindred direction-giver

You've been warned!!!!!

I loved this. Had to fake a cough to cover my snort of laughter at work.

1. What time do I leave the room for breakfast?

6:38am

We launch on an all day excursion.
What is it?

Waianapanapa Black Sand Beach? (I'll have you know, I had to copy and paste the name because the ananapapa threw me off....apanapa

Kay makes a new best friend.
Figures... She's an animal lover.
What is it?

Chicken

We try a local baked treat that Elle thinks
is better than mine! What is it?

Something with coconut? I don't know, I don't know what Hawaii is known for. Never been. Joe went as his graduation present and I was offered the chance to come along, but I had to pay my own airfare and as I was in my last semester in college I definitely didn't have a spare grand lying around.

Did you see it? Bonus points if you did.

I want free peanuts!!

How many beaches do we visit?

Two

What do I eat for supper.

Shrimp

And if you're curious, she's about an 8 weeks old Keeshond

Ok, so, I had your update all quoted out and then clicked on the last page to reply, and saw your response about settling on a name and went "WAIT THEY GOT A PUPPY?!?!?!" and then had to go back and find the post. I tend to be a little obsessed with dogs. I was at the Grand Canyon, and while the rest of my group was ooohing and aaahing and discussing the wonder of nature.....I had wandered off to pet a black lab nearby.

Luna is absolutely adorable!! So fluffy.

Not my pick... Not even close.
But I decided to stop fighting.
I'll get used to it.

Joe and I had the same trials and tribulations when we got our puppy. Joe was trying to stay away from a Disney name. I wanted something that could be shortened. I liked Katana, after the Mortal Kombat character. Joe liked Nina. We both ended up liking, surprisingly, Belle. Yes, after the Disney princess. Her nicknames are Bellaboo and Pupadoo or if she tracks mud in the kitchen, a**hole puppy :rotfl:

She wore it all day yesterday as well.:goodvibes

Sparky. Original, yet still cute.

I try and be creative, but sometimes she wants no part of it. I like to watch videos on different ways to do her hair. She's my only girl so I need to enjoy it while I can, right?

Absolutely! I had two boys, and only one of them had a girl. She is a princess all the way! and they adopted another princess. Only two in the family 6 grandsons and those two granddaughters and I LOVE it!

Nice update! Oh sure, why not spring for the $400 turtle pendant? (smilies are broken right now - ROFL) Nice you could find the silver one. Sounds like Ruby and Elle helped the local economy out for you.

Well, I was a little bit right. Probably better guesses than WDW, where I have been more times.

Next round:
1. What time do I leave the room for breakfast?

8:32

2. We launch on an all day excursion.

Now, I'm confused - you said one excursion, which you have already done.
I will say Hana Coast???

Because Ruby likes to be organized.
When spring comes, she puts all the winter stuff away.
And vice versa in the fall.

Lol. Season changing tends to take about 3 full months around here, so I gradually change the clothes, too. Fortunately, some of it simply goes into the hall linen closet, so it isn't too far away. I don't dare do too much at once. The winter boots may go downstairs in June, just to avoid tempting Mother Nature!

And I saw Kay wearing it just the other day.
So, good investment.

Cool.

I have no idea why we split up in the first place.

Because you didn't want to look at clothes.

On the way, we popped into the Harley Davidson store
where I bought a shirt and a poker chip.
I did not look to see if they had shorts.

Of course, maybe if you had gone looking for clothes, you could've gotten new shorts. But apparently it wasn't bothering you, so you got to avoid it. Nevermind.

Say "Oh the horror" for bonus points!

Oh, the horror!

It really does look like you're in a dragon's mouth

That was pretty darn cool. Glad you got directions!

Standings:
irene_dsc - 140 points

Wow - still in first place!

5. Now with peanuts! (I did have to scroll back and look after the first reading, even on the big computer screen!)
6. 2
7. Pig?

I have a funny feeling I may drop out of first place on this one!

Hey so I realize you are gone for a few days cuz of busy, this is OT, but you encourage that. I'm in full planning mode for the three nights that we're in Vancouver before our Alaskan cruise. I know one day I need to get breakfast at Timmy's, but what are your thoughts on The Keg? We have a full kitchen and I'm debating between a big Saturday lunch and then chilling with the folks in the room whipping up an easy snack style dinner, so Fran can sleep off a day driving around Stanley park. Or making her stay up all night at a steakhouse and shortening our day at Stanley park.

This would be the one day that we aren't homeless in the afternoon and she could actually sleep. But I don't want to waste a room with a perfectly good kitchen and living room. Just wondering about your opinion on The Keg and if it's someplace worth visiting.

OH MY HEART!!! She is the cutest little fluff ball I've ever seen!!!!

Great update, cute, cute, cute puppy. What is her name? So I'll guess you are off at 7am, on the road to hana (is it still a wild ride ) you gotta see those black sand beaches right Kay makes friends with a gecko and you have some local pastel hawaiano and you see 3 beaches. Oh and oh the horror

Hi all!

Had a busy few days, but done teaching the new kids
(at least for now)
and can go back to my regularly scheduled program.
It was an interesting few days. I had to teach two people.
One of them has had most of the training already
so this is more of a refresher,
the other one it's completely new.
A bit challenging trying to not go too fast for the one
or too slow for the other.
Also just got confirmed that I'll be training the raw rookie
starting around the first week of May.
That'll keep me busy for the next 90 shifts or more.

I did find the time to at least read all your posts.
Shout outs will start up tomorrow
as will writing the new update.

Oh! And Luna apparently slept through the night
for the first time last night.
And yesterday, after a few attempts,
we actually got her walking with a leash.
(As opposed to just sitting there trying
to scratch at this thing around her neck.)

luna is just adorable. we are in the middle of finding homes for four adorable kitty babies right now. that sweet little stray, molly that decided she would "keep us" ended up being a package deal. lol, she gets fixed next week but for now it sounds like there is a herd of cattle running amok upstairs. lol, sitting at work today with my student in her French 4 class we were listening and watching the kids do presentations on countries around the world that have large French speaking populations. saw this on his power point
I cracked up. he had no idea what the tim Horton thing was all about. told him all the cool Canadian kids go there lol
