CANADA SAYS 100% VACCINATED FOR CRUISES IN 2022

My neighbor just returned from a trip to Vancouver. He said there are different testing areas in the airport in Vancouver but some were $79 and some were much, much higher priced. I looked up the company he told me was $79 as I was going to make a reservation for our test after we get off the Hawaii cruise but you have to pay upfront and I don't want to pay if testing to get back into the US is dropped by then. You can't even be proactive because things keep changing.

I also have the tests from the government and the $20 option sounds much more plausible. I plan on bringing a bunch of rapid tests onboard with me to test along the way.

Now, if Canada and DCL just let us know what is going on it would be great!!

I guess I'll have to research those options as well, but $20 sure beats almost $80x4! I am really hoping the testing requirement to return to the US will be dropped by then as well. I was thinking we'd bring a bunch with us as well. I figure the test we need to enter Canada will likely give us enough peace of mind for getting on the cruise since we arrive the day before, but this whole experience makes me feel very paranoid about testing. Although I know that my 11-year-old on the spectrum won't want to test any more than necessary. But he knows it is required. Amazing what he will willingly do for Disney!

Thank you for the information about the government tests! In NY, it’s so easy to get tests for free (unless needing a rapid pcr) but we will need to be taking the tests in Seattle, so I’ll have to research the accessibility and cost there. i need to check what brand the government sent us!

I had emailed DCL about planning when their phones were all clogged, and they sent this response:
We have announced information for our Alaska sailings departing from Vancouver. Here is the link: https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/why-cruise-disney/experience-updates/
I hope this information has been helpful. If you require further assistance with any other inquiries, please feel free to contact us.

Off to read!
There's more discussion here: Canada Cruising Info Update on DCL Site

Just be aware that only that one tab of information is updated for Canada. The Before Leaving Home, Embarkation Day, Debarkation Day, etc. tabs aren't yet updated.

This alert came up today…hope it applies to cruises too…

Travellers will no longer need COVID test to enter Canada, source says
A federal government source says vaccinated travellers will no longer require a negative COVID-19 test to come to Canada.

The government could make the announcement official as soon as Thursday, according to media reports.

It would mean fully vaccinated travellers flying or driving into Canada will longer have to take a COVID-19 test.

But random PCR tests will reportedly continue and travellers will still have to use the Arrive-Can app.

So it isn't official yet AND they just announced cruise rules earlier this week or last week, I can't believe they would change them like that (although I do hope they do...because otherwise it is still a lot of testing)

So then for those having to enter back to U.S. after cruise we need to test? Sorry if been
covered things are moving so fast.

The new testing rule might or might not apply to cruises. In fact, if I have to guess, it will be removed only for land and air crossings. Cruising is after all considered a more risky environment for viral transmission. Hopefully, the new policy will be announced tomorrow and will be clear (as clear as a politician can be…).

I agree. The news article. Read referred to land and air arrivals, not water.

There will be thousands of cruise passengers who will be going ashore in Atlantic Canada and Vancouver this spring and summer. I think this decision will include them and the timing coincides with the start of the cruise season as well. I also think this was deliberate.

Now the big question will DCL allow us to do this on our own or will we have to do it prior to boarding??????????????????

I hope that they continue to offer at-port testing anyway, though. It's so much easier than finding my own tests when traveling.
Yes I just wish they would give the option 1 day prior on your own at the port. Huge difference for little ones expecting to get on just to be turned away. Doing it a day before and logging the results adds for more peace of mind.

So Canada removed the pre-flight covid test requirement for fully vaccinated travelers, but did not remove the quarantine requirements for testing positive once in Canada. Am I reading this correctly?
