Canada Day 3

Today was our last day in Toronto, and its was the day to visit the CN Tower. Weather was a lot more cool than yesterday, something we welcomed. Up early and down for breakfast,no back bacon today or hash browns, but I tried the eggs benedict which was very nice !!

Wandered down to the tower for the 9 am opening, and in and up.

Our Hilton Hotel.

Superb glass elevators, and the view from the top was superb. Lovely clear day and a great view of the hotel. We looked around, went outside, where it was very windy, and then back down to the glass floor.

I would not stand on it, it really scared me for some reason, but the wife had no problem, looking down was just too much ! We went right up to the sky pod, and then came back down. We had a coffee at the bottom of the tower while having a look round the gift shop.

Great experience, and a superb feat of engineering to build such a tower and to place the pod thing at the top. Just south of the tower on the way to the lake was Roundhouse Park, which was a little train museum, so we wandered round that, and rode on the little steam train.

Down to the lake and a boat trip on the lake with some superb views of the city skyline. What I was finding was that after Flroida where you allocate so much time to see the attractions, here in Canada I had allocated so much time to seethings but they were not taking as long.

We came off the boat, wandered around the lake front a bit, then wandered back up to the Eaton Centre shopping mall. Got the wife some of her perfume, and visited Abercrombie for some clothes for our daughter. By mid afternoon, I had had enough of walking, so found a take away pizza place, sat down and ate.

We ambled back to the hotel, where we packed up again, I confirmed the pickup tomorrow morning for the journey back to the airport, as we were flying to Calgary where we oicked up the transfer to Banff.

We watched some TV, and saw an advert for the Star Trek convention in Vancouver, which would be on when we got there...

I had enjoyed my 3 nights in Toronto, a nice, clean and friendly city, with some great sights to see.

As a Canadian I think you missed the east, ;) Ontario is Central Canada, The Atlantic Provinces to me are eastern Canada. There are 5 provinces east of Ontario. Beside the Maritimes are the nicest part of the country. :)
I do hope yoy enjoy your trip to our little country. Russia is still technically a little larger.

It must be interesting how people view your country :)

I always split countries in half, and then east is always on the right, west is always in the left !

Never understood this mid west thing ! :rotfl:

I wouldn't stand on the glass floor either, although I was fine looking down through it.

I don't think I would be able to look down let alone stand on a glass floor so high up :scared1::scared1::scared1: That photo of the plane landing in the city is a bit :scared1::scared1: too.

that glass floor looks a bit too scary for me :scared1:

Just reading your report makes my legs go all wobbly - I so remember being terrified when we did this trip as the glass elevators go up on the outside of the building and then not being able to stand on the glass floor at the top either!

Another great day, would love to go up the tower and stand on the glass floor:thumbsup2
