Can you wonder from resort to resort?

I have a quick question. I think? Our first night there we really don't have much planned. Can anyone go to the resorts and just walk around and look at things? Do you have to pay for parking? I was thinking about going to the polynesian resort and walking on the beach, is that cool or is that just for resort guests. We are staying off site. Thanks for your input!

Resort Hopping, especially at the Deluxe properties, is a very fun way to spend a few hours. When pulling up to the guard booth, just tell them you are visiting, and they'll let you know where to park. Starting with the Polynesian, you could take the monorail to the Grand Floridian and then the Contemporary, from where you can catch a boat to Fort Wilderness. On this tour you'll see some of the best theming and most impressive architecture at WDW for the very low cost of $0.

If you are staying at any of the other disney resorts you can take the bus to the TTC. The walk through the Poly grounds from there is nice; either on the beach or on the resort paths.

Just wandering around the Poly flowers is great any time of year. The hibiscus are beautiful and in the spring there are tons of gardenias.

The Poly beach is also a great place to watch a shuttle launch.

Actually, you willl want to take the boat from the Contemporary to the Wilderness Lodge. Fort Wilderness is the Campground... but that is really neat as well. They have a campfire at night, and other activities. WL is very beautiful, architectually, and is definitely worth a look/see!

When you do go to the resorts to visit and you drive, you will be given a 3 hour parking pass. Sometimes at night they don't enforce this, but be prepared that they might, so you can plan accordingly.

If you aren't going to drive, you can always go from your resort to the TTC and walk to the Poly...it is a very short walk. If the TTC is closed by the time you wish to return to your resort, you can catch a bus from the resort you are at to DTD, and change busses there.

Another suggestion is to go to Boardwalk for the night. There you will find all types of activities and you can also visit the Yacht and Beach Clubs, as well as the Swan and Dolphin while you are there. From there, you can also go to Fantasia Golf, which is a lot of fun, as well. Since Boardwalk is a nighttime destination, all you have to do is tell the sentry that you are going there for the evening, and you will be allowed to go in and park.

You will have no trouble finding things to do your 1st night! Have a great time:)

Marmar, your comment caught my interest. You can actually see a shuttle launch from the Poly Beach?? I'm interested because I believe there's one scheduled during the time we are there . . . .

Yes you can see the Shuttle Launch. Just check with guest services in the lobby and they will be able to tell you what direction to look... It is really cool.. The night sky lights up to for miles...

Yes you can and it is a very relaxing thing to do! It doesn't cost anything to park if you tell the security guard you are just visiting. We usually "resort hop" on the first day because we are very tired and want to rest up for our first day of our vacation!
