We will be headed to the House of Mouse in a few days and I'm starting to pack. Should I pack the kids a few pairs of shorts?? Is it warm enough for them to swim??? How about at night? Do they need jackets?? Thanks so much for the help. I can't believe our surprise the kids trip is 2 days away!! We're waking them up like its a school day and saying "I think you won't go to school today ~ lets go see Mickey instead!!" :wizard: :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

What a wonderful surprise for your kids!

You should be prepared for all weather conditions--we have arrived to 80 degree weather, only to have it plummet to the 40s two days later! On two trips we wound up buying warmer clothes--sweats, etc. Most of our trips in December seem to be a mix of warmer and colder weather :rolleyes2

(Of course, I am talking but December, but I wouldn't imagine late Nov/early Dec to be that different...)
So yes, pack shorts, but also pack jeans, sweatshirts and jackets!

Have fun!

The weather can change fairly quickly right now. Yesterday was warm and humid, today is supposed to be warm and rainy, then tomorrow is supposed to be cooler. Shorts are definately an option right now. The evenings may require a jacket depending on how windy it is.

Most of the pools are heated so you can still swim. The only cool part would be when getting out and going back to the room.

Are the evenings chilly yet? When we go in Feb. it's always comfy during the day but you need a 3/4 sleeved shirt in the evening :)

I would check out weather.com for the 10 day forecast.

Also, I think it depends on where you're from in the country. My cousin lives in Minnesota and she has a much different definition of "cold" than I do!!! They're in shorts in 40º weather while I'm in a coat with gloves!

Have a wonderful trip! It's beautiful down there at Christmas!

Today yes tomorow night probably not! :) There is a cold front comming through tomorow so I would say tomorow night will be chilly. Have a great trip!!

We don't have true winters down here in the south but lately the weather has been changing from day to day. The cold front just came through here in Louisiana last night and the high today will be in the low 60s (which I consider too cool to wear shorts). When we were there one November I found that I could wear shorts but I brought a light jacket and wore it in the morning until it warmed up and then again at night after the sun went down. I think it's a little cooler this December than it was on that trip so I would recommend bringing jackets, a few sweat shirts, jeans and a couple of pairs of shorts and short sleeved shirts.

Since December in Florida can be very unpredictable, I would be prepared for hot weather with shorts, but also for cooler weather and pack jeans and a coat.

Just have fun!

Pack both.

I admire you for keeping the secret. DH and I are way to excited and childlike when we are going and it is all we talk about. No way I could keep it a secret. Would love to though. I would love to see her face if we woke her up and said, hey lets go to Disneyworld today! :earsgirl: Plus it would get rid of the, are we going tommorrow? Are we going yet? Is it time yet? When can we go? You get the idea. And that is just my husband, let alone DD! :earsboy:

Having just returned from a Thanksgiving week trip, I would say that it depends on the morning temperatures when you leave for the parks from your hotel/resort.

It seems to warm quickly in that area of Florida. Several days when the low temps were forecast in the mid 50s, you could leave the resort (I left early each day before 8 a.m.) and wore shorts for 5 of the 7 mornings I was there and was comfortable all day until late in the evening. The exception was when a front blew through and jeans were required for morning and late night attendance.

Wear shorts and take some sweats that are easy to change in and out of would be a good suggestion.

Enjoy your trip.

We just went tio Disney World for 4 days and we wore shorts and short sleeve shirts every day except for one. I would suggest packing a sweat shirt and jeans just in case.

Its a strange thing though, this afternoon it has reached the dizzy heights of 34F outside and it is really cold, BUT when i have been in Florida and the temperature has struggled to go above 55/60F i have also felt cold. Whereas
at home when it hits 60F i put my shorts on!

I suppose what i am trying to say is that a cold front in Florida makes the temperature drop below 60F and makes it feel cold, while a warm front in North East England pushes the temperature up to 60F and makes it feel warm.

Same temperature, different feeling!

Pack a little of everything. We are about 2 hours S of WDW on the Gulf Coast. This morning it was a steamy 79 degrees. It's been raining all day and last I checked was 72 and headed down. I had my seat heat on in the car. I started the day in shorts, but have graduated to sweats.

Bring some shorts and pants, ss and ls shirts to layer and definitely a jacket--nighttimes temps will be in the 40s they say. Hopefully, the sun will come out and the days will be pleasant, but try to be prepared for anything. You can get it in FL in winter!

So excited for you and your kids--great surprise!! Enjoy!!!
