Can you watch fireworks from CR?

Has anyone recently watched the MK fireworks from the walkways outside California Grill at the top of the Contemporary Resort?

I had heard several months ago, that they CG staff were no longer letting people out to the observation deck unless they were eating at the Restaurant.....

Are they still preventing this, or can you go up?

Last I heard was you still needed to be dining at CG to use the deck.

The CR has another observation deck somewhere around the 4th floor that you can watch from too, however, do yourself a favor and definitely dine at California grill! lol

Isn't there a bar/lounge in there? Can you go get a drink and then see fireworks? Just wondering.

There is a "lounge" area at CG. It is on the right side of the restaurant (closest to the castle) when looking at Bay Lake.
Seating is limited, though.
