You are allowed up to two waitlists.

Actually, a DVC cast member recently explained to me that they changed the policy about a year ago. Before, you could have many wait-list entries, but now, you can only have two. Also, they will no longer call you to confirm, even if you request such a call, and they are unwilling to send e-mail. You'll be notified by paper mail if the wait-list comes through.

It's a shame, because the best way to make use of the wait-list was to wait individually for each day of your desired stay, in case they came through at different times. Wait-listing for an entire week as a single chunk almost never works. To answer your question, yes, you can wait-list at two different resorts -- but you'll only be allowed one wait-list entry at each resort. Even if you would be willing to consider different dates or different room types, you will only be able to pick one precise combination at each of the two resorts.

Supposedly, this change was necessary to reduce DVC's costs. I suspect it actually increased their costs, because members are now forced to call every day, and yes, calling multiple times per day works even better. Handling all those extra calls has to be more expensive than letting the computers process wait-list entries.

You can have two active WL for your membership at one time, not necessarily two for every reservation (some people have more than one trip booked).

When you wait list, each view type, size of room, etc. is considered its own WL so if the resort you want has different options, you have to choose.

Last summer, I wanted just two nights at BLT in a studio. Because they have three different views, I had to pick two of them. That forced me to call in periodically, to check the view I could not WL.

And, just be careful that you understand that wait lists are typically cancelled 31 days out. You can leave it to stay in place until 7 days out, but only do that if what you want is MORE than what you have booked. If your wait list request requires less points and it is filled within 30 days of your arrival, those extra points will be come holding points, which means they now expire at the end of that UY and can only be used for reservations made 60 days or less in advance.

The one drawback I've found is that suppose you have a first choice and a second choice resort. Once one of the waitlists comes through, you're dropped from the other waitlist. So if your second choice comes through, you're dropped from your first choice and once you find out (either by mail or by checking the website), you have to call and go back on the waitlist for your first choice resort. And maybe when the second choice waitlist comes through, you were only third on the first choice waitlist. But when you call back, you have to go way to the bottom of the list, so now there maybe be 10-12 people in front of you for that first choice. Just something to consider.

I would just check the DVC site on a daily basis to see if your waitlist comes through.

can a renter of points check the status on the dvc website or does it have to be the owner?

Say I wanted to waitlist for a studio at BWV, do you have to choose a view? Can you not just tell them that you will take any view available? or would that count that as a waitlist for each view?

You need to choose the guaranteed booking category you want, meaning standard, boardwalk, or preferred pool/garden at BWV, building identity and room view category at AKV and standard, MK or Lake View at BLT
