I've read somewhere that they don't allow use of sunscreen when swimming with the dolphins, or at stingray city. Is this true?
If it is true, how did you keep your children from burning? Thanks.

We went swimming with both the dolphins and the stingrays. We applied sunscreen on both of these swims. None of the instructers asked us not to apply sunscreen.

It is much better for the animals if you are not wearing any lotions, etc. I would remove your jewelry and watches too. Some operators are not as strict about these things as they should be.

To avoid sunburn, the best thing to wear for these programs and/or snorkeling are rash guards. When wet they can also keep you cooler in the sun. I get kids sizes from Tuga. :sunny:

There is biodegradable sunscreen that they allow on coral reef dives... that would prolly be a good option. That and a t-shirt.

Where do you get biodegradable sunscreen?

I have one made by Dr.Hauschka that I got at Sephora, but it's very pricey. The only other place I've seen them for sale is at the places/operators that require them.

Also, a few of the dolphin encounters do not allow tshirts to be worn. I assume it's because they tend to stretch in water and they don't want the animal to get caught or bite at it.
