Can you use 40% room code AND still buy dining package?

I booked an October trip using a "numbers only" 40% room rate code that was mailed to me. Does anyone know if I can add/pay for a dining plan AND still use the 40% room code. My sister told me a Disney rep told her no, her code was room only and couldnt make it into a package. She would have to remove the code just to quote a package with dining and tickets and there was no discount. To boot - when she did the "package" there were no woods view rooms available (WL)...had to either go standard or courtyard.

Does this sound like anyone else's experience? I'm considering adding dining to our trip (family of 4), but I'd hate to lose our 40% room rate.

I see a lot of people are posting that they rec'd a 40% code, but also added dining...how did you do that? Were your codes numbers and/or letters?

As far as I understood it you can add dining it just won't be 40% off. I just got a 20% off room only and got the deluxe dining with it no problem.

I would call back and ask a cm, that doesn't sound right.

We got the 40% off room card in the mail also. We booked a courtyard view room at the Wilderness Resort for 40% off and added on the dining plan, park hopper tickets, and Magical Express transportation, no problem. The Disney rep. was very knowledgable and took care of everything. I was even able to request a specific floor.

YES ....i had no problem....got 40% off a club room at akl and paid for ddp..

We were also able to book using the 40% off room code and add DDP and MYW tickets.

The CM that booked everything for us said there was a way to book a package and still get 40% off the room. I think she used a different code or something to do that, but I'm not sure.

I had to call twice to get the 40% off and the tickets and the DDP . We are staying for a week in October at the WL. Keep trying

WE got the 40% off, parkhopper tickets and the meal plan.

Ask them if there is an alternative package available to the room only code you have. Quite often either a room only or various other types of packages are offered. (Either by upselling or downgrading.)
However it could be the room type you want is not available or offered for your travel time.

My Cm said that there was a "lead code" with my name for room only, and he searched under that code for another code when I added dining and tickets.

thanks for all the great replies. i appreciate it! my sister thought maybe, like one poster said, we would have to upgrade to a courtyard view (staying at WL) to get the dining/tickets package w/the room only 40% code. right now we both have woods view...i'll have to see if i can keep my woods view w/40% and add dining/tickets.

the one poster who said you booked WL -- which room type did you book? curious. thanks.

Do you also have to get tickets? Would like dining but not tickets as we already have annual passes.

You have to have at least a one day ticket to get dining, but you can have it made into a paper ticket and not use it. It will not expire unless you use some portion of it.
