Can you upgrade a seasonal pass to fixed day ticket

This may sound strange, but can you upgrade a seasonal pass to a fixed day ticket?

The season pass is cheaper than numerous fixed day tickets, but has some black out dates due to concerts and crowds. If you have a trip where one of the later dates has a black out, could you check in to a resort hotel using a new annual passholder discount, and then "upgrade" to a fixed date ticket (assuming it covers the number of days you desire) so you don't get blacked out?

I see reports from several years ago about people who had not activated their AP voucher being able to switch them to tickets. If you have activated it (assuming you would need to for hotel discount), I would bet the suggestion would be to pay for the power or preferred pass. You can always call Universal.

Are you going to save $110 or so on the hotel and food/merchandise discounts? Why not just make it less complicated and buy power/preferred annual pass?
Only one person in the group needs to buy an annual pass to get the hotel discount.
