Can you "treat" someone on the Dining Plan?

Hi-
Had a question, and wondered if anyone might know the answer.

We're going down in November and utilizing the dining plan. Dd is 11 and eats like a bird. I figure we'll probably end up splitting several meals, leaving extra credits.
My parents are also going down but will not be staying with us or using the dining plan.
At the end of the trip, if I have extra credits left, can I "treat" my parents to a meal? Will the waiters even know that I have 3 adults on my dining package and not 5? Or will they just see that I have X amount of credits left and let me use them?
Don't want to cheat on anything--and I DON'T want an embarrassing situation to arise.
Thanks for your help! I'm just now thinking maybe the dining plan isn't for us (as DD will never eat $40 worth of food per day) and wondering if this might be possible in the event we find ourselves with meals left towards the end.

If you have to ask this question, I think your answer is evident. ;)

I don't know anything about the meal plans, but, it would only make sense IMHO that as long as you have the credits, it shouldn't matter how many people you are feeding. I am not sure how it all works...why not just call WDW and ask them? Or at least find out how you can utilize your extra credits.
:earsgirl:

On our last day on our Sept trip last year, a stranger paid for our meal with his leftover credits! It was a very magical, very nice moment for us!!!! :goodvibes

So yes, you can treat others with leftover credits.

If you have left over credits, I'd imagine you could do what you wanted with them.

I asked this same question when I called to book my package and I was told that if I chose to use all my credits in one day that was fine with Disney. The answer is yes, you paid for them and you can use them any way you want to.

We did this in September - no problem.

Thanks! That's what I was hoping. Just didn't want to have to eat all that food myself on the last day if there's any left :earseek:
--because you know I'd do that before I'd let any food or money go to waste!!! :rotfl2:

Depends on the CM. Some have reported here that they were allowed use dining credits for visiting family members not on the plan. Others had problems when the amount of credits being used exceeded the amount of people listed as dining plan members on the KTTW card. As stated above, some CMs even allowed people to "give" complete strangers their unused credits on their last day (rather than "waste" them).

It is a ton of food to eat! We used several of our leftover snack credits to buy bottled water, rice crispy snacks etc. in the hotel food court and just took them home with us. You can even use leftover counter service credits to pick up readymade packaged sandwichs, fruit bowls etc. We took those home as well.

We have 7 going for 5 days and 4 have bought 5 day dining plans. We are all spending one day at Seaworld and one day at Cape Canaveral so we asked if the three people who did not buy the dining plan could use the other 4 people's credits from the two days that were not going to be used. We were told YES, so if we are told no when we get there, the Magic Kingdom will not be a very happy place on that day! :rolleyes1

I called today with a similar question.

DH & I have 2k in our room, grandparents have our other 2k in their room. I asked if it would be possible to add the dining plan to 1 room (2A & 2k= 12A ts credits & 12k ts credits) and then share the credits. Meaning that we could do 3 ts meals (x 4A=12ts credits.) Disney said no problem! I would like to hear from someone that did this, actually used the credits for their whole party at the table even though it was more than the number of guests in their room.

I would like to do this but am afraid to be stuck "in the moment" with paying out of pocket for ts meals.

The only problem I had using my credits however I wanted to was when I went to the Mara to get myself a late dinner and ended up there with only my DD's card. They wouldnt let me use a kids card to get an adult meal. But we did treat my parents and brother at a restraunt. Using an adult card ofcouse. But we had 4 people on our plan so we only bought 4 meals. Didnt want to risk any questions as my dad would have gotten upset. Meals are so big when the come with appetizer and desert. My hubbie and I ordered together - I got the appetizer and we shared desert. That was the only time we ate all three courses at one meal lol.

We were able to do this in Dec -- we had a total of 3 rooms -- our immediate family in 2 connecting (me& DD-8; DH, DS -11, DS- 9) on the dining plan; my parents in another room not on dining plan. We were there 7 nights, so we have 5 people X 7 nights = 35 TS credits. Instead, we went out for 5 TS X 7 people (treating my parents). We only gave them one card at each place -- I just said, "please take all 7 meals off of our dining plan credits on this card" and it was fine.

Wendaeh,

Thanks! I think we will add dining to 1 room, I just have to figure out which one. Disney has it listed as DH, me, 2 oldest kids (4 paying) and grandparents with 4yo and 2yo (only 3 paying.)
